I took BEC a few days ago, and I still don't know what to think of it. How can you tell if the testlet's are getting harder? I couldn't tell. I also had more than a few questions that were one line that I found very challenging. I studied for 130 hours for this test, and I have no idea what I will come out with. It could be anywhere from 60 to 90. I really hope I pass because if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't know what to do different.

Took BEC yesterday. My first testlet had the most difficult questions where I was thinking, “What the hell, NINJA did not prepare me for this at all.”

Then the rest of the testlets were fairly easy.

Really hoping for a pass, I'll be pulling my hair out the next two weeks until score release.

I took BEC on the 26th and wanted to put my experience out there. This was my first CPA exam. I took the SEE to be an Enrolled Agent several years ago. First testlet obviously was a medium. Second one was definitely hard. Third one… Had some of the hardest questions I've ever seen, mixed in with some of the easiest ones on the exam. So I have no idea what to think about it. The 3 memos were things I knew enough to BS about. Easier ones would have been nice, but they also could have been much harder. I used the basic memo format thats been floating around this forum. More than a few of the Ninja sims were more difficult topics.

I didn't have any time constraints. I was on the memos after about an hour. I've always been a fast test taker though, so don't let that alarm you if you're fighting the clock.

I've been using Ninja MCQ and Ninja Audio since early August. Before that I was using Wiley's book and test bank. I watched a few of Roger's videos as well. I dont see anyone being able to pass the exam with the Wiley books alone. Thursday, IIRC, my trending score was in the high 70s, low 80s.

Regardless of my score on this one, I have FAR coming up in November. I'll probably read the book, then use Ninja and Roger exclusively.

@brickell cpa thats awful to hear that ninja mcq didn't prepare you well. I have been asking everyone that.

Ben did you feel ninja or wiley mcq helped prepare you better for the exam?

I took BEC today. First section, first time. I did well on the first testlet. The second got noticeably harder. I think I did ok on it. The third testlet…there were many questions that were completely foreign to me. I hadn't seen the stuff in Becker or heard it in Ninja Audio. I BSed my way through the writing sections, but should be ok there.

I don't know what to think. If I passed, I won't be surprised. If I failed, I won't be surprised.

I took BEC today. It's really hard to gauge how I did. I felt like a lot of the questions were different from my study materials. I wasn't sure how I did on the first testlet, but I felt like the second tetlet was harder than the first, and the third testlet was the hardest. My brain had nearly turned to mush during the third testlet.

The WC tasks were not too bad, but I had no idea how to answer one of the topics. I hope that one was pretest. Overall, I have no clue.

My experience with BEC was not noteworthy other than the fact that I got a “talking to” by the proctor for typing too loud! Apparently the person next to me complained. I had managed to get through one of the essays before being asked if I could “type more quietly”. I was blown away. The proctor was very nice about it and seemed apologetic. The person next to me was also given headphones. But I spent the remaining time I had left for essays trying to type as softly as possible. I think it added at least another 20 minutes to my time.

Has anyone else had this sort of thing happen to them?! It was all I could do not to peek over at the person and give them a dirty look.

@Steve Brule- I think I may have just taken the same test as you. I honestly have no clue how I did. I feel like the second testlet was harder, but there were some easy ones mixed in. The third testlet was harder than the first, but also had some easy ones mixed in.

They should just do away with IT questions if they're going to keep asking about all these random topics that aren't covered in any review courses. I had at least 7 questions on things I never saw while using 3 different review materials.

The WC were manageable, but the last one was straight from FAR and I had no clue how to answer it. I'm praying that was the pretest because I feel I did ok on the other ones.

c1oth – The ninja MCQ helped better for sure. It has about 3x more questions than Wiley did, covering slightly more subject matter. Also I like the format of Ninja better. The practice exams are the same but the study modes were different. Wiley won't tell you which answer is right if you answer it wrong. You have to re-figure or re-guess or whatever and click choices till you get it right. With Ninja, you get the correct answer, and the explanation and calculations if there are any. Its much easier for me to learn that way.

Good luck to you other folks!

When I took FAR, I was obviously sitting next to someone that was taking BEC. I put my headphones on but I could still hear the typing. I think I was way too nervous to let it bother me. When I went to take AUD, I asked if they could not sit me next to someone if they were taking BEC and explained my last experience, luckily no one was sitting for that section while I was there. I will definitely tell them not to sit anyone near me if the typing is going to disturb them when I sit next week. The keyboards are awful in there. I would be upset if the proctor disturbed me while testing.

I took BEC yesterday, it sucked.

1st testlet, very easy questions, maybe 3-4 very educated guesses….

    Then things got crazy

2nd testlet blew me out of the water. There were questions on things that I know for a FACT are not in my NINJA or Becker materials. I don't think this is the fault of the review courses, I think they are making BEC harder.

3rd testlet, somewhere in between. I still had a TON of educated guesses though. Some of the IT topics and Financial Management questions were extremely left field.

Overall I think I landed myself in the 73-78 range. I honestly felt that this was a harder exam than the FAR exam I took in May, and twice as hard as my audit exam.

I took BEC yesterday. This is the first time I walked out and just felt empty, numb, and blank. The reasoning I have no freaking idea what to think of my exam experience. I studied and gave it as much as I could ( I am now realizing although I am putting in 90% i need to put in 150% or else I will never pass). I did not feel any changes in the testlets which I tried not to think about while in the middle of the exam because it would have unmotivated me right away. I felt only decent about the WC, I put in some key words and I felt I could have done more. I totally looked up the information right after the exam to gauge how I did. I am hoping I predicted the one that was pretest because it was the one that came out of left field. I am already moving onto REG because of my NTS. I hope that I get good news with this score release and that I do not have to wait for the BEC bubble to find out.

AUD- 72, 71, TBD (now i am pissed no more messing around)

Took BEC yesterday. Overall it was an “ok” experience. First testlet was medium, 2nd testlet was hard with 5 questions flagged, 3rd testlet was brutal around 8 or 9 flagged. Writing Portion, Well I BS in all three of them and threw random key words in there. Can't really describe my overall experience. Walked out and was happy i was done with this brutal exam. Definitely more COSO and IT. Some questions were word to word from NINJA. There were also some question which were from left field. Days until result day are going to brutal and full of anxiety.

    @csvirk @ryan

when you guys say lots of questions on COSO. I'm in Chapter 1 of Becker and notice a lot of internal control too, was that seen a lot as well?
