Just took BEC today for the first time. Ridiculously hard… how did everyone else in Q3 do?

I took it. I had one SIM I had no idea on and made up answers for (hoping for pretest); otherwise, I thought the test was fair. That SIM was on one specific concept that I didn't even remember seeing in the Becker book, though it was there when I looked for it afterwards. I still would have never guessed it to be so important when studying.

I had a tough time and underestimated the test, and am hoping I scored enough points to put it behind. I wouldn't call it ridiculously hard, though.

    WC's weren't bad at all.

WCs were quite hard for me. First one was very clear as to what it wanted me to talk about, second one less clear, and third one I had no clue on what to write about.

I had a very similar experience for my exam back in Q2. Definitely felt like the hardest test I ever took. Maybe it was a mix of under-preparation and poor time management.

I felt as if the WCs were fair, I just ran out of time and only managed to write three sentences for the last WC (please let that one be the throwaway WC).

I would not be surprised to see a score of like 58, but I believe in miracles and will continue to think that I squeezed by with a 76.

WC's were fair. I feel pretty confident in my performance if it was graded by a person, and am hoping the computer treats me right. One was pretty broad that I knew the answer but couldn't come up with much jargon to ensure the computer knew what I was talking about.

The other two were pretty clear as to what was needed, or at least provided enough direction.

I made sure to tie in as many buzz words as I could, without completely looking like I was BS'ing the problems. “those charge with governance, risk appetite, aligning strategy, SOX” (I left Sarbanes Oxley out, as it got the red-squiggly and didn't want to lose points for mis-spelled words. Not sure if I played that right…)

Did you take in Q3? Were the WC's at least on BEC topics ? I got screwed last time b/c my WCs were on AUD and REG topic and one on BEC.

What did you think of SIMS? Were they doable? Lengthy?

Yes took in q3. I had one topic that could have been considered AUD but definitely had BEC application, not unreasonable, and I was at least somewhat prepared for all of them.

SIMs were doable. One was very short but focused on one area I was unprepared for (but should have been), the others were all fine. One was very lengthy. I didn't do as much sim practice as I should have, but being the last test I was taking in a pretty short period of time, I was burnt out and allowed it to get the best of me. Looking back, should have drank another red bull and stuck with it – we'll see in September.

WC is only 15% of the overall points now, with one throw-away (which is presumably one that crosses out of BEC).

Agais (or whoever else took BEC in Q2/Q3)

How much time should one allocate to the SIMS ? I think there is 4 SIMS?

You mentioned a lengthy SIM? Was it at least easy content wise? I find cost accounting to be difficult concept esp variance analysis.

Did you get SIMS that does not require any calculation?

I did 90 mins for MCQ, 60 min for WC, and remainder for TBS. Simulations were both calculation based and logic based.

I used the words ‘ridiculously hard' becoz the amount of IT questions and ECON questions I encountered on one of the teslet was uncanny. If you recall a lot of people were saying there were loads of IT questions when the new exam format first came out and now “it's all even; no more excessive IT questions”. Nope, there were a ton of IT questions that were not covered in my review material (becker). .As to ECON, I literally got one questions on ECON… how even…
