These are just my thoughts after coming out of BEC today, nothing specific:
-Generally not feeling good about my performance, the “easiest” exam of the 4 seems to require nothing more than rote memorization, which I’m not particularly good at. I’m better making the pieces of a puzzle logically fit together. It honestly felt like more bare knuckle memorize/regurgitate than REG.

    – I’m hopeful that the space they initially give you to write an essay is about the length of what they expect you to write. Otherwise I’m praying for good guesses on the COSO MCQs and 4 strong TBSs.
    – Roger CPA needs to be updated with meatier COSO and tech chapters. I think the 2018 version of Roger glossed over these areas not hitting a couple key ideas to understand. (He literally has a section called “Gloassary” for IT that he fully admits is a once over of terms that may/may not appear on the exam. I’ve had good luck with Rodger for FAR AUD and REG, passed all 3 on first try. I’m way more rightfully neverous about BEC. I shouldnt have 2 MCQs where after diligently going through all the material I’m thinking “I have no idea what they are asking for or talking about, choice C it is!!!!!”

I’ll be reviewing up till score release day with Rodger. If I failed I’m open to suggestions for a more complete BEC review

    Really?????

There are documents made available by the CPA itself that say “study COSO”.

My dude, OP didn't say he skipped COSO. Before my first BEC exam I heard all about COSO and IT, so I studied those sections in Roger a lot. This person is saying he didn't feel like Roger prepared him well enough, and I agree.

My first time taking BEC I had done Roger's videos and IPQs like I had done for all the other sections that I passed on the first try. The BEC exam had stuff on it that I didn't ever remember even hearing about. I was so lost for so many of the MCQs I couldn't believe I was so unprepared. Usually when Roger does a gloss over of something it's not that important, but with BEC every little thing is important.

For my retake, I ignored the videos and went through the book line by line, redid all my notes just from the book. There were things in there that I recognized being lost on from the exam. For some reason they weren't covered as well in the lectures. I also did a free trial of Wiley which I really liked. I bought a month of Ninja, but didn't care for it. Obviously I don't know if it worked yet, but I felt significantly less screwed this time so that's worth something to me.

Ha, no that “Really????” response was me (the OP) responding to the “Post Edited For Exam Disclosure” by the mod. Orig post said something to the effect of “a question” on my the exam asked about “a specific COSO principle” of COSO ERM. I still think my original post was clean but the mod is the judge of that, not me.

I'm glad that someone else had the same feeling as I did regarding Roger's BEC program; I was beginning to think I simply hadn't studied hard enough. If I have to do a retake I like your idea of redoing the notes using only the textbook. I did my notes out of the textbook this go around but they may not have been as detailed as they should have since after listening to the videos I may have thought “I knew this before I started studying BEC” while there were probably some jargon items and details I should have paid more attention to. If the items I thought I had never heard before we're in there I'll know the problem was me. If not, I'll give Wiley a shot.

Hope your June 29 brings good tidings.
