I took BEC today and I have to agree with the other people who recently took it. This is the most random test that I have ever taken before. About one-quarter of the material seemed foreign to me. I studied COSO, IT, and financial management material and I was lost from the first MCQ testlet. After reading the questions, I didn’t know what the question was asking. Lol There were items that are known to be tested, but I didn’t see a lot of them. I don’t think Wiley has kept up with the AICPA on this exam or it could be me. The topics that they stressed didn’t show up as much on the MCQ, but on the TBS they did.

For the TBS, I went blank on the first one. I just guessed and moved on.☹️ I took my scheduled break and then I took the second one. It was more calculations, but I got a problem that Wiley didn’t cover. It was doable though. The written communications were fine. I don’t have any complaints. I would suggest that you practice them during your studies.

Personally, I feel I will be retaking BEC. I was lost on most of the exam and I felt burned out. I did study for six weeks and I probably averaged four hours a day excluding my mandatory one day off. This is my third consecutive exam and I want to take a break, but I can’t since the exam scores are delayed and REG will change next year.😔 The only positive is that I gave myself extra time towards the end of this year to take two additional exams.

I wouldn't rely heavily on what the exam prep courses “stress”.
Everything is fair game if it's mentioned in the Exam Blueprints published by AICPA.
I am sure you touched on other areas than the topics you mentioned in your post, but what you listed out doesn't sound comprehensive to me at all.

Also depends on who you talk to (I know a person who got all 99s in 2 months of studying, someone who passed w/ a full time job in 9 months, or like myself who studied 3 hours everyday for 1 yr & 9 months to pass all four), but six weeks of 4 hrs per day to me doesn't sound all that much, in case that's what you were trying to imply.

Everyone is different and you just have to find what works for you. I know it's frustrating, but this ain't rocket science. W/ enough efforts & average brain, you can do it. Hang in there.

Oh man!! This does not sound good. I'm also using Wiley and I take BEC on June 8th. BEC is my hail mary test as in I'm cramming for it in a 2 1/2 – 3 week timeframe because I wanted to take 3 exams in Q2. Fingers cross for you!!

    @jombe

BEC didnt require as much studying as FAR or AUD and I am an overstudying type of person so I have to limit myself. I might have to reduce my retake hours for BEC next time. Two friends have already told me to stop studying so much. Something has to give.

The exam is a marathon, but I planned to pass all
four parts before my job starts. Like Tyson said, “Everybody has a plan until they are punched in the mouth.” The CPA exam is punching the crap out of me. Haha

You will probably be fine. I just felt burned out and what I focused on wasn’t highly tested. Just make sure you know cost accounting and how certain formulas are re-arranged to find different answers. Wiley should have stressed them. I will take a few or more days off and move on to REG.

Thanks and good luck in June!

I took BEC for the 2nd time today and I agree – it was terrible lol. I passed but took too long with REG and lost my credit. When I passed the first time it was before they re-did the format of BEC and this was WAY worse in my opinion. I know for sure I bombed one of the simulations but felt pretty comfortable with the written tasks.

Time will tell – I'm waiting on BEC and AUD – is it the end of June yet?

I felt like I wasted 6 weeks of studying. lol I don’t know what the AICPA is trying to accomplish. At least with FAR, I didn’t pass it, but I didn’t feel lost.

The crazy part is you probably passed since this is your second time. After the exam, I grabbed a cold one.😬😬 I don’t plan to study the next few days.

The score release is June 27th for AUD, FAR, and REG. BEC is on June 29th.

How I despised BEC. The hardest exam IMO.

BEC was the hardest one for me to prepare for. All the information seemed so random. I have no idea what to expect on June 29.
