    Hi!

Does anyone feel that the Gleim lectures are overkill? Are Docs of incorporation ever tested?

Took BEC on Dec 02, 2017. Both MCQs testlets were more like IT/COSO questions, hardly any calculation questions, probably 20%. The calculation MCQs were very simple Math. I find this BEC Q4 exam weird.

First of all, I'm always comfortable with IT, BLaw and Auditing topics. But this exam, I picked most of my answers, using the ‘process of elimination'. Most of the IT questions out there worded differently. So knowing the other choices helped me a lot in making my final choice.

As to IT questions, I came to a conclusion that, the only way I can prepare is by knowing more IT materials or reading every bit of explanation each time I practice my MCQs app.

As for study materials, I used Ninja Sniper package but only used the MCQs app. Seeing what AICPA has on its site for Sample Tests, and prior Q3 BEC exam experience, I didn't bother doing the Ninja SIMs, except on familiarizing topics that could come up for Writing Communication. Also, I used my old 2014 pdf Becker textbook as my guide, just in case I forgotten something. Good thing I did, because I didn't feel totally lost before and during the actual Q4 BEC 2017 exam.

BEC hit all areas. I started seeing some at MCQs and then the SIMs testlets. The AICPA site Sample Tests were very helpful for the SIMs part. Thankful, I made an effort to check it again, before I crossed the Border. There wasn't any WiFi in my hotel for the whole week. Except for my phone data, I basically no access to the Internet in my hotel that I stayed at.

Overall, 2017 Q4 BEC exam was an exam that you can only prepare for the half with any review materials out there. The other half, you're on your own! It doesn't matter how many hours you've spent and 000s of MCQs you've done, it's not guaranteed you'll pass. It is so frustrating.

As always, I am hoping for a pass.

Just sat this morning for BEC – honestly not really sure how it went. I'd like to think I did well, but you just never know. They hit one area hard, no way I could have prepared better for it. That being said, I did my best. SIMS were OK – 2 easy, other 2 not so easy. WC were straight forward, but I ran out of time on my last one. Going to be a long wait until score release.

Sat for BEC on Friday and felt sufficiently prepared thanks to Gleim hammering IT and Cost Accounting. I spent a ton of time studying COSO, because it's always been tough for me, but didn't encounter it much on my version of the exam. After two other CPA exams, I am keenly aware that sometimes the roll of the dice does that. The MCQs and WCs were pretty straight, though the topics on the WCs were more vague (to me) than I'd seen in practice. I killed some time asking myself “what keywords are they looking for? What is the target audience for this question?!”

MCQs were a little more challenging than I expected, to the point I couldn't tell if the second testlet was harder. Being able to use Excel was nice, because half the questions required intermediate calculations. Not over-the-top, but not the sort of thing I'd want to do on a pocket calculator.

The SIMs, though, woof…. more like 12 crammed into 4. Saw some cost accounting verbiage I wasn't familiar with but think I managed to stumble through. I know the common belief is to hammer MCQs since you can't prepare for the actual SIMs, but now I think SIM practice is very important for BEC. My adaptation skills were put to the limit and while I did a good number of sims in Gleim review and Wiley practice exams, I wish I'd done a few more. Glad we're able to use Excel again, because at one point I had to recreate the balance sheet and income statement exhibits to keep all of the adjustments straight.

Finished with 10 minutes to spare, which honestly surprised me since I'd been finishing practice exams with more than an hour to spare.

Overall… it was… OK but weird… which is how I felt AUD was.

    Hi,

I read in a lot of forums that the updates from the COSO-ERM will not be tested.

    WRONG, it will be tested.

    Good luck!

Third time taking BEC yesterday. It was about the same as it always was. I really don't understand how they expect people to do this. 62 MCQs, 4 SIMs and 3 WC. It's way too much. I get so depressed after I get through the SIMs because I know I failed. This exam is psychological torture… The SIMs are like… essay length long. And one of them doesn't even count because it's pre-test, so you waste half an hour on it and then have to rush through the WC. I think I failed again for my THIRD time and my clock is ticking. I'm so down. Why did they have to add the SIMs when they have the WC already?!
