Yeager for Auditing

I am currently using Yeager for auditing. I just don’t know how I feel about it. I liked Yeager for FAR and BEC, but so far I am not as happy with auditing. It just seems like he is just reading the multiple choice questions and giving the answer without much information on why the answer is correct and why the wrong answers are wrong. Also, not getting much details when going over the chapters. I just liked Cindy Simpson much better. But it could be me, because I do not know much about auditing at all, so maybe I am just not familiar enough with the material. Did anyone else use Yeager for auditing and how did you feel about it?? Did you supplement with anything?? Right now I have the Ninja notes. I can’t really afford much else, so I guess I will do my best with this and if I don’t pass, I will buy something else.

I used Yeager for Auditing and Gary is a bit dry. What really helped me was to read the book, as well as, listen to the lectures. I also did a ton of multiple choice during final review and spot read the book again while doing that. I “think” I did okay, I will hopefully find out my score next Friday.

I also listened to the Ninja audio a few times and that helped bring things together. I would listen to it in chunks when I was walking or cleaning the house.

I'm studying BEC now and I'm not so sure how I feel about Yaeger for that. I was not a strong Econ student in college, so I'm really struggling with that aspect.

    Good Luck

It took me a while to warm up to Gary, but he does know his stuff. He does read out of the book a lot, and I thought that he was skipping over parts that I didn't need to know. In retrospect, it's probably better to still read the chapter, just don't obsess about taking notes on the chapter, only the lectures. I used the CRAM 2012 for my third AUD attemptand did one practice exam from the Wiley Online Test Bank. I increased my AUD score from a 56 to a 73 with basically 10 days of study time using those resources. I'm tempted to buy a different course provider but I've already invested so much money in the Yaeger/Wiley/Ninja combo. I believe if I just stay disciplined and move one step at a time, read the chapter, watch the video, do all the MCQ, read the notes, do practice exams, basically continue having no life for at least another six months, I will pass this damned exam.

I have been using Yeager since May 2012 and I took Audit in August 2012 and failed with a 70. I listened to the lectures by Gary and nothing made sense because I didn’t know the material. Then I did the MCQs and pretty much the whole time I felt lost. Gary said to memorize 3 of the audit reports and I did not. Gary was right because I should have.

I went back and studied again since I am taking the exam again in November. Now that I’ve been studying with a better approach I can’t believe I got a 70 back in August. I must have been really lucky because I didn’t know much then.

For Yeager I would first read the material in Wiley and if it helps you organize it so you can understand it, make your own outline. I did this for Internal Control and I feel like I really know the topic now. I studied each module thoroughly and made side notes for key info, and only then did I watch the videos again. On the second viewing they made more sense. Gary does give feedback on why the answers are correct, so I made notes for questions that I had trouble on. Gary will go over the things you need to know. Gary wants you to go by his outline, which I don’t think it is that great, but it is a good overview. You might want to make your own more detailed outline. Anything you can do to dig into the material so you understand it will really help. One thing I don’t agree on. Gary says don’t read the authoritative literature unless you are having trouble. I had a sim question on the exam that I failed that was taken right out of the literature. This specific topic was not detailed in Wiley- it was just mentioned. On my second exam review I downloaded all the authoritative literature (in PDF) and read it. It is well written and some of it is excellent for studying.

Do the released exam questions in the back of Wiley, too. There is a full exam there and the simulations are great practice. If you have any questions, give Gary a call- he is really nice and good at explaining difficult concepts. The more you get into the material the more you will find it interesting- believe it or not! Also, I am memorizing GAAS this time. Good luck!
