Hi folks, my first time posting here. I’m currently studying for AUD, taking the exam on Jan. 23rd. I’m using the Yaeger Home Study material for 2011. I’m about half way through the video lectures with AUD and I feel as if I’m not really absorbing the material. Gary Bulmash spends most of his time drilling multiple choice questions, often times with very little explanation or recall to the source material. I know part of the Ninja method is to take copious notes, but the only way I’ve been able to translate Bulmash’s lessons into note form is by rewriting the multiple choice questions and answers into one statement, i.e. an auditor is not supposed to do such and such. I continually have to pause the video to finish writing out the notes, which makes a one hour video last 2-3 hours.

My questions for you is, how did you succeed on AUD with Yaeger and Wiley? It seems as if reading the Wiley book will take too long, but Bulmash skips over 90% of the topics and just drills multiple choice questions over and over. I can’t help but suspect that I’m missing out on many topics. I’m thinking about pushing through the videos, taking very brief notes, and then going back and drilling on the Wiley MCQs and TBS in the book and the software, rewriting my notes in combination with the Ninja notes, and reviewing the Ninja notes daily. What are your thoughts and what did you do to pass this part of the exam?

I used Yeager for Aud. I studied 3 weeks. I watched all the videos and took some notes. Most of the lecture is drilling mcq's so there is some value there. I then drilled mcq's form Wiley Test Bank and used Ninja Notes and made sure I knew all the major topics in Jeff's notes. Know the different opinions and how to write each report and audit risk relationships, etc.

    BEC (11/10) 77 (Bisk)
    FAR 7/2 - 63 11/5 - 80 (Yeager - Fail, Becker - Pass)
    Reg (08/11) - 78 (Yeager)
    Aud - 11/29 - 78(Yeager)

I found myself taking very light notes with Bulmash and actually preferred the MCQ as opposed to some of the instructors who read straight from the book to much. MCQ are a great way to learn AUD, a lot of theory stuff. There is little reason to read the book (Bulmash says this also), maybe areas you are weak in only.

when you are working the mcq' read all the answers, read why the right one is right and why the wrong ones are wrong. This helps to instill the theory behind it all. Plus it gives you way more information than you will get from reading the book.

Gary Bullshit is the man. I haven't took AUD yet but he is a firm believer that you must study the MCQs.. thats why his lectures are 80% going thru the MCQs. I would follow everything he says.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I'll continue to blast through the videos and then drill the MCQs until my eyes bleed. Cheers.

Seconding the guy who said Gary is the man

Don't worry about the areas he skips over; he might not be the most charismatic guy in the world but he knows his stuff and the areas he emphasizes are what you *will* see the most of on the exam.

Do exactly what he says and listen to his advice and you will do great.
