I am writing this to motivate my self to get back on the saddle and get focused. October was a crazy month with busy hours and lots of field work. I had originally planned to clear AUD by the end of November but things did not go as I had planned. I began job hunting and the anxiety of interviews etc has really distracted me from studying. I am pushing back my date to hopefully mid February and am going begin studying as of tonight. I don’t know if I should back to the chapters I read in September or should start all over again. Maybe I will just review for now.

I haven’t heard back from any firms yet about starting, and though that is also distracting hopefully I can really just keep going.

Just this past month (October) I was laid off in the final 2 weeks of studying for my FAR retake. The entire process of searching for jobs, meeting with recruiters, interviews with employers, etc. was insane. I made it a point to expose myself to the material everyday. I even had one interview a day before my exam. Fortunately I was offered several positions and found a job in less than 2 weeks. You can imagine how gratifying it felt to see that 81 pop up on the screen this last week on score release.

In the end no one is going to care what was going on in your life — children, hectic workload, layoffs, illness, etc. They are just going to care if you have those 3 letters next to your name or not. There's too many excuses and too many people that have overcame far more than me getting canned for me to use that as a crutch. It is implied that when you meet someone with a CPA that they had to overcome many obstacles to obtain it; some of more extreme degrees. This is just one of your hurdles that you're due for. In my opinion, the people who start this thing and don't pass it isn't due to lack of intelligence or inability to grasp the concepts, it's because a whole lot of stuff is going on in their life and it's easier to just not deal with this huge pain in the rear end that are these exams. You got this… go kill it.

Now…. time for me to dominate AUD tomorrow!

Thanks Bobcat, at this point I just hope that my job hunt will yield something that will make all this worth while. However I do understand every CPA has gone through this and not every CPA is the brightest bulb out there lol, thanks for sharing your story!
