Anyone have any tips for this? As I understand it the AL can be a huge help in possibly solving some of the AUD Sims but I’d like to know if there’s any keys suggestion to actually using it.

I was able to utilize AL in SIMs (other than research) when I took AUD. 1 is word for word the other one requires personal judgement. Basically, you need to know what topic is involved in the question. Then research in AL anything that may help you on that topic like rules, procedures, definition, etc.

I used the AL for the sims, but one of them was a FAR sim…no help from AL, but it was an easy FAR sim.

    A 88, B 76, F 84, R 76 Passed 2014

    Licensed in OK

Practice with your review software. The material is more extensive on the exam, but if you have practice searching a certain way you should be able to find answers.

    Florida CPA!
    Took final exam 2/25/15.
    Sent in Application 3/12/15.
    Issued License 3/20/15.
Used CPA Excel solely for all exams.

There are examples in the AI. So if you get a formatting question (e.g. audit opinion), you can go look up an example.

I literally found the word for word answers to two of my sim questions. Definitely take advantage of the AL.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    FAR - 78
    REG -

I won't speak to what was on my exams, but I've heard a “rumor” that you can find audit reports word-for-word in the AL. You just have to know which report you're looking for. You can also search for a key phrase to find it. Very helpful (allegedly)!

    I just sat yesterday.

Fist thing, audit Sims are not hard compared to FAR and REG. AUD Sims are simple, they are very big drop down lists. On the other hand the MCQ's on Audit are very difficult. Watch out for words that are distractors. For example, a phrase like “material to net worth” means nothing more than “material”.

Make us of the “search within button”. Find the topic in the AL, then search key words from your prompt to using the search within button. Example, if you are researching going concern in a compilation Find the topic on compilations then search going concern and click “search within”.

Independence has a question answer format in the AL, another way to utilize the search within button.
