Got my score for my AUD re-take. ANOTHER 72! (would have been cooler to get two 71s to be true to this site haha). Needless to say, I’m confused and PISSED. I took 6 weeks to re-study and felt good about my retake. I didn’t have the best luck with SIMs this time around though. My first time I was able to find 4 of the 7 almost word-for-word in the AL but not this time so that may have hurt me a little bit. But I already have a tentative re-test date. Just have to wait 48 hours to apply for another NTS and spend another $200+ for application and exam fees (ridiculous!)

This is my 3rd failure of this exam and I am finally angry with this darn test. I’m ready to do what I should have been doing all along: no time for fun, no TV, getting up early and staying up late to study, and anything and everything else that I need to do to pass AUD and then REG and BEC after. I already passed FAR so I’m sure I can pass my other 3!

I WILL be a CPA. This test WILL NOT break me. I’m coming for you AUD, you better be ready on 10/6!

    FAR: 65, 77!
    AUD: 72, 72, 80!
    REG: 64, 84!
    BEC: 83!
    Ethics: 98!

Delaware CPA as of May 23, 2014 at 10:43am EST.

I think you guys are approaching this wrong…getting “angry” at a test is a little immature. I was a east asian history major and have passed all parts of the exam on my first try. It all comes down to what and how you study…these exams are hard but they are not *that* hard.

The biggest factor is dedication. I'd wake up at 5 or 6 am just to review, then go to work for 10/12 hours, come home, quickly eat, and review till 12am. You have to write out questions you get wrong. Outline chapters extensively. Do hundreds of MCQs and if you get them right, know the theory behind the question. If you are not willing to do the above, you're not willing to do what it takes,,,

Sorry to be harsh but just preachin' the truth and shaming the devil….

    AUD- 97 1x
    REG- 81 1x
    BEC- 79 1x
    FAR- 88 1x

    DONE!

    10/1/12 to 2/28/14

@jasonrobbins If dedication is the biggest factor I would have passed Audit by now. I failed the first time for not enough studying, but the second and third time I did more studying then you suggest. The third time even more so since I had a lot riding on passing. Both times I got 74's. Wanna see my notebooks filled with wrong answers or my desk drawers filled with audit notes? I could quote different sections of the Roger course that I have taken multiple times now. Ninja notes rewrote them at least 4 times over the course of my studying. Multiple choice questions, did at least a 1000. Took practice exams with my average score in the high 80's. Have I passed yet?

    No.

So no dedication is not the biggest factor.

Yeah, in a perfect world that's how it works but I don't know anyone who lives a perfect world. It's quite pretentious to diminish the struggles of others and question their dedication while flaunting your success. If it only took dedication, there would be no need for this site and then what would Jeff do all day? Sorry to be harsh but just preachin' the truth and shaming the devil…

    and yeah…I'm pretty darned ANGRY!

Hey, the rules say: no drama! 😉

I think the biggest issue here is the fact that simulations require a more comprehensive understanding of all the material being tested. An additional factor is the time constraint.

While it's easier to memorize material for the MCQ part because you can sometimes find the right answer by process of elimination, it's really difficult to analyze those long sims and catch all the little details when you have on average 15 minutes per simulation.

For instance, for REG you really need to understand all kinds of gains/losses, passive income, types of assets, etc. in order to do well on simulations because they mix several concepts together so analytical skills, time management and ability to work well under pressure are very important as well.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

Amen! My issue is the AUDIT sims. I have had Roger and read his book. I have tried the ninja notes. I have tried Wileys focus notes. I have read Gleim 3x and be through their test banks 3x. I even have Wiley's testbank. I am comparable in the MC and weaker in the sims. There is no amount of studying auditing wise that can prepare me for them. I basically have to study FAR because half of them are FAR based. The AL is pretty much useless for all of those sims…

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

Please no drama on my post! Everyone has different struggles and a story to go along with our struggles. There are very few people that can pass these exams on the first try and to those that can, I commend and congratulate you. But for most of us, it's a little harder. So please let's just respect everyone's CPA journey and be supportive and helpful to those still working hard to beat this beast of an exam 🙂

I will bite my tongue for the most part and just say that everyone is different, and everyone responds to different motivators. Getting angry is just a way for me to assert myself more, and that's really what I need to do to pass this thing. It's good for me, not destructive; promise. My next score is going to prove that. 🙂

    REG - PASSED
    BEC - PASSED
    AUD - PASSED
    FAR - PASSED

    DONE. 🙂

@tough_kitty I agree to that,Audit sims are so much comprehensive ,where you have to apply all the audit concepts to the situations given and that too with long list of options which are so close to each other even if you eliminate some you are left with two options which you get confused at.And when just 10 minutes are left in the clock during the actual exams, you change some option. And later you think I wish I had stuck with first answer that was inputted.I felt this during both of my audit exam where i failed.

Does any one else feel that they should stick with first instinct answer or change them?? Obviously on the questions where you are unsure.

With audit I guess you should stick with your instincts 😕

Audit is really damn challenging …You know the stuff still it makes you run behind it till the time you are not bang on with all the concepts.

    Good Luck all

FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

    I am Done !!!!
