Got my score for my AUD re-take. ANOTHER 72! (would have been cooler to get two 71s to be true to this site haha). Needless to say, I’m confused and PISSED. I took 6 weeks to re-study and felt good about my retake. I didn’t have the best luck with SIMs this time around though. My first time I was able to find 4 of the 7 almost word-for-word in the AL but not this time so that may have hurt me a little bit. But I already have a tentative re-test date. Just have to wait 48 hours to apply for another NTS and spend another $200+ for application and exam fees (ridiculous!)

This is my 3rd failure of this exam and I am finally angry with this darn test. I’m ready to do what I should have been doing all along: no time for fun, no TV, getting up early and staying up late to study, and anything and everything else that I need to do to pass AUD and then REG and BEC after. I already passed FAR so I’m sure I can pass my other 3!

I WILL be a CPA. This test WILL NOT break me. I’m coming for you AUD, you better be ready on 10/6!

    FAR: 65, 77!
    AUD: 72, 72, 80!
    REG: 64, 84!
    BEC: 83!
    Ethics: 98!

Delaware CPA as of May 23, 2014 at 10:43am EST.

Hey guys, I scanned through all your posts and was just wondering – what materials are you using to study? And more importantly, are you adjusting your study strategy when you prepare for the same part the second time?

I decided to invest in Roger CPA Review which comes with Wiley software and I am pretty sure it was the best investment I've ever made. Roger's lectures are amazing, especially for FAR and AUD.

I recently took REG. I honestly believed I did very poorly on half of the simulations because this wasn't anything that was covered by ANY review course, and I was amazed to see that I still passed with an 83! I did stronger on both, MCQs and SIMS, and I swear I didn't think I would do that well on simulations! It just proves Roger's promise – you will pass the CPA exam if you study with his materials and follow his advice.

Just thought I'd share this info with you in case you haven't used his materials yet and feel really frustrated. Hope it is not against the rules to recommend specific study materials. I am sure Ninja materials are great as well, but I didn't get a chance to use them, as I usually prefer to study with my own notes. I do believe that notes & re-writing them (especially the journal entries) is VERY important in efficient and effective preparation for the exams.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

@tough_kitty , congrats on your recent REG pass! It's a tough one!

In the past (where I did nothing but fail), I had studied with Bisk and Becker. No offense to them (especially since lots of people sing Becker's praises) but it was only when I added Wiley that I started passing. Or maybe I was just fed up and started studying HARDER! Probably a combo of both. 🙂 Oh and I've purchased the Ninja notes a few times in my last week of review as something new to look at – plus they're cheap and you get them instantly (like at work where I can print 80 pages for freeee!) If you like Roger/Wiley, stick with it! It obviously works for you!

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

To be honest, this time I am doing ONLY MCQs and SIMs from Gleim and Wiley test banks, using NINJA 10 point combo, writing fact nuggets and re-writing NINJA notes. I know some think this is a shortcut but honestly, I've seen the Yaegar videos FIVE times and taken detailed notes, I just cant sit through them again…and I have only 30 days til my battle with FAR. Ugh…

    @nbad311 – Thank you 🙂

I had a chance to use Becker for free (it was a scholarship) and I didn't enjoy the lectures, but I still have the textbooks and I read them in addition to Roger & Wiley textbooks. I have to say some of the material in Becker books is very helpful, especially to answer those few very detailed MCQ's that show up on the exam.

But bottom line, it all comes down to a proper study plan! You have to plan it out in advance and stick to it! And give yourself some buffer so even if you skip a day of studying, you have enough time to make it up the next day.

Practicing MCQ's is important – up to the point when you start getting 80's and 90's, but after that you should really concentrate on understanding and memorizing all the material – that part is VERY important in order to be able to handle the simulations. Most of them test your comprehensive knowledge, so it's important to be able to apply all the concepts…or sometimes try and use the authoritative literature tab to find the right answer!

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)

@Eliabraham I agree with man… When I took BEC… I thought for sure I failed the simulation miserably… I even left 1 or 2 questions totally blank… When I got my test score back… I was so surprise to see that the evaluation they put was that I was “comparable” to the others.. I was like WTH? !?

Its like when I think I did good… I did bad, and when I think I for sure failed miserably (meaning 30s or so..), I end up STILL Failing, but not as bad as I thought (scored 65 on FAR).. so frustrating…

I think you guys are approaching this wrong…getting “angry” at a test is a little immature. I was a east asian history major and have passed all parts of the exam on my first try. It all comes down to what and how you study…these exams are hard but they are not *that* hard.

The biggest factor is dedication. I'd wake up at 5 or 6 am just to review, then go to work for 10/12 hours, come home, quickly eat, and review till 12am. You have to write out questions you get wrong. Outline chapters extensively. Do hundreds of MCQs and if you get them right, know the theory behind the question. If you are not willing to do the above, you're not willing to do what it takes,,,

Sorry to be harsh but just preachin' the truth and shaming the devil….

    AUD- 97 1x
    REG- 81 1x
    BEC- 79 1x
    FAR- 88 1x

    DONE!

    10/1/12 to 2/28/14
