Are you working on the tickmark sim that's in Becker? If so, what about it is giving you problems?

I never understood that in Becker, luckily it didn't cost me on the real exam:)

    Good Luck!

Thanx. Knowing my luck, I will probably see a sim on that

    FAR - 67, 77

Haha. My luck is similar to yours…but I didn't see it. If you have time, def. go over it and understand it, but otherwise don't put too much emphasis on it. I doubt they would have similar simulation as the one in Becker or Wiley.

One tip though, make sure you use research tab for sims that you aren't sure of…sometimes, you'll be able to find answers (or at least how to) in it. Research tab saved me on my exam.

Definitely will use the research tab. Thanx for the tip!

The tickmarks are pretty straight forward. I haven't done the Wiley one, but the Becker one regarding fixed assets and depreciation was at least. There's no memorization of symbol as they can be figured out from context. It's pretty logical, beginning balances are tied to prior year ending balances. Additions of fixed assets are matched to the right type of supporting documentation, as are sales. A reclassification entry will show as a debit in one account and a credit in another. Depreciation is tested for reasonableness. The end of the year amounts tie to the TB and GL.

I still get confused when I get choices like “confirmed with exception” or “confirmed without exception”

    AUD - 55, 69, 79 (Expired), 71, 81
    BEC - 76
    FAR - 67, 77
    REG - 55, 64, 71, 74, 78 DONE!!!!!

Confirmed without exception just means it ties to what you confirmed it to exactly. If it doesn't tie exactly, then it's “with exception”

You will never have a tickmark that just states “Confirmed with exception.” You will (almost) always explain the reason for an exception in that specific tickmark. I actually can't think of an example where it would make sense NOT to explain an exception.

The key with the tickmark is to understand the audit procedure itself.

-What was the audit risk with this area?

-What was the auditor trying to determine with the testwork?

    -How was the testwork done?

-What is NOT an “exception?” Is this adequately explained?

-What IS an “exception” in this testwork? Are the exceptions explained?

Using Becker, Ninja Notes, and CpaReviewForFree

    FAR - 87 (2/17)
    REG - 89 (4/21)
    AUD - 89 (5/31)
    BEC - 89 (7/11)
