When you took your test, which were the top 3 (in order) most heavily tested areas (and can you name specific examples)?

Please tell me this a sick joke right?

Get a review course and study like everyone else. The AICPA disseminates outlines of what will be on each section. Wow!!

So would you say you got a lot of internal control related questions? For example, knowing proper segregation of duties? Would you say you had mostly a lot of sampling questions, particularly calculating sample size, etc?

The last exam I took was BEC and I can easily say the top 3 most particlarly heavily tested questions I had were related to corporate governance, variances, and net present value.

    Pretty simple question really.

The CSO's say what will be tested, and are very accurate. Use those as a factor for what you may or may not see more of on the exam. We can't really disclose what we saw on the exam. If you study everything you're supposed to, youll be fine.

That's not my question but ok. If I wanted to ask about AICPA CSO I would have, but that's not what I asked, clearly. This is a discussion board for sharing your exam experiences, if you don't want to then don't post at all.

OP you are being too offensive now. I think they were just trying to let you know that is against the exam rules. You can't per se ask what was tested on the exam. Hence, others were advising to look at the CSO. I get it is stressful to take these exams and everyone wants to pass but by reading your post I could sense the anger and frustration.. totally understandable but dont need to be so rude. Enjoy your thanksgiving!

@brickell we are not allowed to say what we saw on the exam. I think Jeff always has a reminder about this. You should edit your post where you noted what you saw on your BEC exam.

I wouldn't expect much help if that's how you're going to respond to people. The CSO's reflected what I saw on the exam pretty accurately, and those give you a detailed breakdown on what you'd see. If you don't like the answers you get then don't ask questions.

Ok ok, there must be confusion on the confidentiality/disclosure of exam content. I've read several topics where peope had a hard time with certain sections on the exam and there were no issues with disclosing that information then. Apparently this is different to some.

I think it's how you phrased your question. You asked for those that took the exam to say what was heavily tested. I think you would have been better off asking what areas for those studying for audit that one should focus on. I have seen those types of questions before. If you search the forum I bet you will find a lot of good info. I know for Roger he mentions what you must know based on past questions. I always take those hints as areas that are heavily tested. If you are using a review course then I would pay attention to those hints from the instructor. People also say audit reports are a must.

Thanks. I just read Jeff's previous thread about disclosing CPA exam content. Jeff, feel free to delete this thread, not my intention. My mistake.

You will never know what is heavily tested until you open the first set of mcq. Just study and be familiar with all the chapters

would also like to add its a pretty pointless question / discussion as what is heavily tested on one persons exam may not be on another persons… which is why “know it all” is a good rule of thumb…

and they ask me why I drink...

FAR- 61-next time I'll ask for lube instead of a calculator
REG-75- Never been so happy to see such a low grade
    BEC- 8/11
    AUD- 9/2

Please if you see something that looks like a disclosure report the post. This is a busy forum and even with the help of moderators it's not possible to read every single post. But trust me when I say folks from AICPA and NASBA read this forum to make sure it stays on the up and up.

Also remember nobody knows what's considered heavily tested because nobody knows how the exam is scored. If I had 20 questions on a particular topic it doesn't mean they make up more of the score than a topic I had five questions on.

So, lets said, if i failed the audit exam, (score coming out tmw) and re-review the becker, chap 1&2 and 6 are the chapters i would focus on, especially the review report compilance report. chap 5 samlping would be skipped if i run out of time to review. And chapter 5's internal control, i would spend some time on that. Chap 3&4 just read on once, if u can understand, great. If not, i wouldnt spead too much time on those, since they r usually on sim, rather than mc
