Tracing copies of computer-prepared sales invoices to copies of the corresponding computer-prepared shipping documents provides evidence that:

    a.

Entries in the accounts receivable subsidiary ledger were for sales actually shipped.

    b.

Shipments to customers were properly billed.

    c.

No duplicate shipments to customers were made.

    d.

Sales billed to customers were actually shipped.

Our value does not come from our skills and abilities, as good as they may be; it does not come from our GPA, our job, a promotion from that job to a better job, our success on the CPA exam, or anything of the like; but our value comes from the fact that we have a Creator who loves us, cares for us, and desires to help us navigate the rough waters of this life in a way that provides security, hope, and true, everlasting joy while we anticipate the life to come, with Him.

It's tracing. The shipping department isn't supposed to ship anything unless the entire packet is complete. Shipping is last.

Personally, I don't understand why they teach specifics on vouching and tracing. Becker goes over it in pretty decent length then a lot of answers on the multiple choice indicate that the terms can be used interchangeably and might be used interchangeably on the exam. A better method is to understand the logic of what is being explained.

If you're looking at a list of Sales (copies of computer-prepared sales invoices) and then matching them with the corresponding shipping document (copies of the corresponding computer-prepared shipping documents), you're testing to see if the sales you made actually shipped.

Think about what would happen if you found a sale that didn't have a matching shipping document. You'd assume the sale never was shipped out.

My live-lecture instructor for Becker refused to teach us the vouching and tracing that Becker emphasizes because the test will interchange the terms as Becker essentially made up that rule. You need to know the difference between whether they are going from a source document to a financial statement or vice versa (or similar document types), rather than the terminology of vouching and tracing.

    Really MaLoTu?

I know in Gleim, direction testings such as Vouching and Tracing was literally pounded into our heads to the point I got nearly sick of it, both mcq's and sims.

Yeah apparently MaLoTu is right, Ihave heard that the real exam sometimes change the temrs. So I will go with knowing if you are going from source doc to JE or viceversa.

I've only seen questions that use trace both ways, but I've never seen vouching used for anything besides existence so far. I suggest understanding what the question is asking and not relying on the terms anymore.

I agree with Meeekks on this. Better to understand what is going on in the question rather than just use terms you've memorized.
