Hi everyone, I am taking audit tomorrow. I know many successful candidates have said to use the AL. I have been trying to practice the Becker and Wiley sims with the AL, but have not had any luck. Has anyone had the same experience? How did you utilize the AL during the exam? Did you go through the TOC or just used search? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm testing 5/30 and I am also in dilemma looking through AL. I just finished my practice test Final Test and I could not get through with it. Wrong path keeps showing, ugh! I wonder how it is in the actual test.

Okay here is actual sim for this AL:

Reed & Goldstein, CPAs, have completed their year-end audit of Jefferson, Inc. A review of the audit documentation indicates that Jefferson changed its depreciation method during the year. The documentation also indicates that Reed & Goldstein concur with the change and with the method of effecting the change, but that there is a material effect on the financial statements for the year under audit. What guidance is provided by AICPA Professional Standards with respect to appropriate modifications to the auditor's report in this situation?

I found AU-508.11, letter d: There has been a material change between periods in accounting principles or in the method of their application (paragraphs .16 through .18).

I knew I had to pull paragraph 16 & 18 but it would not let me then I got lost as soon as I hit “next seach”.

It took me a while & lost track. I ended up picking AU-508.19.

And the correct answer is AU-508.16, gosh, I knew it! But the page won't take me there.

    We need coaching here!

CPApracticer: As to your query regarding the use of AL, it depends on the question itself. I'm going to be vague due to the non-disclosure thing. It is pretty straightforward when you look at the question if you must use AL other than the research question. Just keep in mind of AL all the time during the exam.

    AUD - 90 05/2013
    REG - 85 10/2013
    BEC - 80 12/2013

    I'M DONE. THANK YOU LORD!

Henryv: Do you know if there are any non research questions on Becker where using the AL would work?

Yes as I've stated on my previous post. Just keep in mind of using the AL when you're in a pinch.

@henryv Can I get an example of a non research Becker Sim where the AL would be helpful? I cannot seem to find one..

I didn't use AL during my study on Becker since everything on Becker is learning even though AL is there. I'm stating during the exam. Use the AL how you use it when doing the research portion. Keywords and whatnot.

@CPApracticer – Have you tried the AICPA Practice exam? It's super short, 5MCQ and 5 SIMS. But I feel its the best representation of the exam, it's nearly exact format. I get frustrated with Wiley sometimes also, because there is a search within portion in the real exam that Wiley does not have. I'm right behind you, taking Audit on Thursday!
