Hey All,
I wanted to share my audit exam experience to see if you NINJAS had any tips for the re-test/test process for Audit. I failed the Audit exam with a 66 taken on 8/25/15. I was studying only using Becker: reviewing online lectures, taking notes from each section on what I thought was important and many many MCQ’s. I studied for mastery all the MCQ’s from Becker and did numerous progress tests. My scores by the time I was ready to take the exam were consistent in the 80’s and I did pretty well on the progress tests (but maybe I was learning the questions more so than the material?) . I did not focus a lot on the Becker SIMS and the ones I did I found to be convoluted, thinking they were far too in depth or worded weirdly. On the exam I was surprised at how many unfamiliar concepts there were and a lot of the questions seemed like they could be test questions. I thought I knew the material inside and out based on my successes with Becker MCQ’s etc. I did kind of race through each section which is obviously not ideal, and had lots of time for the SIMS. Aside from the research questions I found the SIMS to be BRUTAL. I’ve combed the forums here for perspective and noted a few of you have said that the Sims you took were ‘FAR heavy.’ I kind of felt like I bombed the SIMS and my score shows that I was ‘weaker’ in that section but also I was ‘weaker’ in the MCQS.
I plan on studying incrementally. I know I will need to grasp the ratios/FAR elements and the ‘math-y’ elements of the exam better. I am going to rewatch the lectures in Becker and do NINJA MCQ’s/SIMS/Blitz/Audio. Any insight you guys have on tips and tricks here is greatly, greatly appreciated and I hope all of you make it all the way on your CPA Journeys!! Cheers, Ninjas!
