Failed AUD – Suggestions?

    I just found out that I have failed AUD for the 2nd time and now my Becker license extension is going to run out. I am now going to lose credit for BEC so I will have 2 tests to take starting in April. I am beyond frustrated. I know it is my own fault, but I just don’t want to shell out the cash to re up with Becker. Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks

    This is probably the opposite of the advice that other people will give you, but why would you consider reregistering for Becker when Becker didn't work for you the first time? One of two things happened.

    1. You didn't use Becker the way it is meant to be used (i.e. didn't watch the lectures or do all the problems), or;

    2. You used Becker properly and it just didn't work with your learning style.

    If it's #1, then consider reregistering but you need to be disciplined and DO the material. Maybe you aren't able to motivate yourself and a live-lecture format that you HAVE to go to would be more productive.

    If it's #2, then I'd suggest a different study program. There's no point in paying for something that hasn't worked in the past unless you see a real reason it would work in the future.

    I second what wizards said. I used Becker during my first try back in 2009-2010 (before I gave up for a few years – I don't suggest doing that ever!). I hated Becker. I never learned anything from them because I was too worried about making sure I highlighted, circled, and underlined everything they told me to highlight, circle, and underline.

    Some people swear by Becker, it just wasn't for me.

    I have CPAExcel. The question bank isn't quite up to par so I keep buying the NINJA 10-point combos which include the Wiley test bank, but I like the CPAExcel lectures. The are broken into bit sized pieces and walk you through the information rather than telling you what to highlight.

    There are a bunch of different review programs out there. Maybe try to find some example videos on their websites to see what you think would work best for you.

    I'm sorry to hear all that. I've failed Audit twice with the consecutive scores of 74. The amount of frustration I can't even transcribe into words. So I feel for you… I recently passed AUD and I been using Yaeger CPA review, which in my personal opinion (for at least AUD/FAR) is much better. They actually go through the questions with you and teach you the logic behind each question. I've used Becker before and for me they just don't do a good job reviewing enough questions for you to get the hang of what's going on. Plus I believe Yaeger gives you a discount if you used another study course and failed the exam. The only draw back to Yaeger is sometimes they don't do a extensive job like Becker does in covering in all the material to the tiniest detail.

    I'm planning to use Yaeger again for REG, and considering Ninja notes/audio since people have been raving about them. So consider it…that's my two cents for yah. Best wishes!
