I’m currently using Wiley book, WTB and Ninja 10pt combo ….should I look into buying lecture videos ? How helpful are they?

Failed REG first time and I don’t want the same to happen with Audit, would like to pass on first time ? then retest for REG

I use becker vdos, I loose concentration very easily, so the review vdos help me get thru the chapters. Once I go thru, i make my own notes on the whole chap, i follow my own notes not the review material any more. I think making ur own notes solidifies your understanding and makes you realize what are the areas that you actly have covered. currently i am using mainly becker & wiley (just questions to practice).

If you are like me who does not like reading too much, vdos can be helpful, but a lot of ppl hate vdos. So it really depends on your own style of studying. For me, I definitely need the vdos for the first time to go thru all the pages of review material till i make my own notes.

Best of luck with ur exam.

what are good lecture videos to supplement with the Wiley book ? I checked the Wiley site and looks like they don't offer any lecture videos

For me Id say Becker videos are okay (I just use them for the first time). Some lecture do discuss things in good detail, that I would not understand without the extra discussion in the vdo. But I passed papers using Becker so I owe them 🙂 and Wiley too 🙂 both of them are great, together they are an excellent combo i would say.

I think that Roger's lectures are meant to go with the Wiley book, and I want to say Yaeger is as well, but I'm not positive on that. Whether or not the lectures are worth getting just depends on your learning style. For me, the books are the best. I'm so glad I found Wiley, rather than getting a lecture series! But I know that the books aren't for everyone.

Lilla is right Roger and Yaeger use Wiley textbooks.

@Lilla I am glad you posted here because I wanted to know what your study method is with just the books. I am going to attempt to use just the book for my audit retake.

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

@ruggercpa2b I read the book cover-to-cover (well…mostly – I skip the MCQs and SIMs, but as far as the content, I read it all), the drill in the test bank till test day. In areas that I'm particularly weak, I may pick up the book again and re-read the section to try to grasp what I missed. In my dream world, I'd re-read all weak sections, get through all MCQs and SIMs in the test bank, and re-do the ones that I got wrong until I got each question right at least once. In actuality, I usually don't get that far, but that's my strategy. 🙂

@pia I studied about 5 weeks for BEC and 3 weeks for AUD..but I'm a bad student, so I'd be lucky if I studied 10 hours a week. 😐 AUD is all about it “clicking”. It seems like it's either something you understand or you don't. So, if you understand the concepts still from college classes, then all you need to pass it is to read over the material (or watch the lectures) and get a few facts and terms in your mind. But if it doesn't “click”, then you might have to study for 3 months to understand the concept behind it all. AUD “clicked” for me in undergrad, so my study was more just to concrete the details and refresh the concepts. BEC was my first exam, and I had a solid business background – my degree had more miscellaneous business credits than accounting credits, and had 2 classes in cost accounting. So, the economics, strategic management, cost accounting, etc., were all very familiar topics. Looking back, I could've done BEC in much less time due to my basis in the material…but I didn't know that at the time.
