I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to understand chapter 4 of Becker and testing the business cycles. Gearty said this is some of the most important info, but it just seems very subjective and like multiple answers could be correct. I’m really worried/frustrated because I take audit on May 23rd and I feel very weak in this portion.

With BEC and FAR, I was able to rationalize my way through questions I didn’t quite understand, but with AUD, it’s like I’m reading Chinese.

    Any advice?

I'm having the same issue and take the exam on Tuesday- I memorized that chart on the bottom of A4-14: Balances: CVER, Transactions: COVEU, Disclosures: CVRU… then am going to use it to rationalize any questions by figuring out what evidence the auditor would obtain based on their testing, and match it up with the assertions available depending on if it's a balance/transaction/disclosure. Also going to learn how COVERU / FIVE CARROT CARS relate (similar to the A4 Becker Sim) and summarized in the chart on A4-16. That should hopefully be enough to make an educated guess… and hopefully there are only a few questions on it!

I take it this is your final review. Or you still have a couple of chapters to go? If this is your final review then I would say focus on getting the other chapters until you are 90-100% confident. Then write down what doesn't make sense on Chapter 4. And go back and review the chapter after 2 days. Because that chapter can be confusing. There are too much theory and audit steps to memorize and make sense of. Audit steps in the field are based on the environment you are auditing. Some of the concepts there do not exits when you audit a company that is much more modern. So its like going back to the basics.

Also look up a couple of video on Ytube. So you can see how other review courses are explaining the different concepts.

    Good luck!!!

No, I'm actually still going through all the chapters still. I'm just going to push through these questions right or wrong and go on to chapter 5 and come back after I'm finished with chapter 6 (hopefully tomorrow).

@Link good idea, finish the other chapters. Then go back to the material on Chapter 4. Don't worry about getting your mcq right for now because you have to go back to them again before the exam. There other two 5 and 6 did help me understand 4 later on.

    Good luck.

That's good to know, actually. I appreciate both of your input.

    Good luck on Tuesday, ag08c!

Just struggle through the A4 mcqs, then move on to A5. Try to do at least 100 A4 mcqs, but if you're getting too frustrated, just move on to A5 anyway. You will come back to it. You have PLENTY of time to do so. Only A5 & 6 are left.

Gearty says everything's important. Look at your textbook for christ sake. Have you run out of highlighters or red ink?

When you review A4 again, do this 3-4 times: read all the passkeys, mnemonics, “General Rules,” “starred” points, formulas, if you've got time the examples. These are basically what you'd make flashcards out of. Shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to an hour to review this per chapter. Good luck.

Remember, that you don't have to be perfect. You can suck on A4 and still pass. You probably know the other chapters good enough to pass. And the exam isn't only on A4.

    passed
