Starting to feel like Bulmash videos are pointless to watch (Yaeger) - Page 2

Anyone else felt like they don’t really learn anything from watching Gary Bulmash’s lectures, for the Audit reviews by Yaeger in particular? Has anyone decided to just skip his videos and do something else instead to prepare for AUD? Too bad I already paid for this thing.

I'm actually shocked to see this many positive comments about Gary. I was a bit skeptical myself when I bought the Yaeger AUD course because many people said that he's too boring. But after watching his videos, I'm so glad I used Yaeger instead of Roger.

@yankeeaccountant- Based on the feedback I've seen and from watching Roger's sample videos, here is how I'd compare the two:

    Roger:

    -Has a lot of energy

-Jokes around in order to break the ice and keep you interested

-Focuses a lot of mnemonics to help you memorize the material better

    Gary:

    -Serious, dry lectures

-Explains things very well in his own words and very rarely uses the book, which I think is a good thing.

-Less emphasis on mnemonics and more focus on getting you to understand the concept and see the big picture.

    @cpaman,

    great info.

I may have to start up my new audit relationship with Gary. Heck, he is probably more my age! I think memorization hasn't done well for me, so Yaeger will be the ticket. Glad I read your post.

Thanks….on pins and needles for REG. I am not optimistic. I got spanked on Audit and am not ready for what REG has in hold for me. The sims were killer. Best of luck…

Do not confuse “annoying delivery” with “ineffective delivery” Took FAR last year and Gary did the leasing section. I could literally hear his incomparable “Bueller . . . .Bueller” type intonations in my head, helping me remember stuff during the test. He really communicated the concepts and test question dissection.

@diane – Reminds me of Tim Gearty. I find him annoying, but helps me pass.

my biggest problem is that probably 70% of his lectures is doing mcqs and explaining them. And alot of times, he will do questions that have not been covered in the lecture of the current module. Im more the type where I like to learn things first then do questions. Its just discouraging when he does questions and I don't get the answer correctly and dont understand the answer until he explains it.

@dsal: i wouldn't get too discouraged. he sure is boring, but his topics he asks you to cover in your own time, as well as the question review (why answers are right and wrong) are pretty effective. i used becker predominantly, but used Yaeger/Bulmash to supplement AUD. don't forget, Bulmash uses Wiley text and question bank as his backup, and there is a lot of value in that. the questions at the end of each chapter has great explanations of what answers are right and wrong. read all of them. so i used Yaeger/Wiley for the high-level knowledge, then used Becker and Wiley MC test banks over and over to drive home the concepts.

Gary uses the MCQ to teach the material. He does go through the book, but does not go in to much detail. Try not to get frustrated because the way he teaches with MCQ, I feel, is his strongest point. He teaches a lot from the MCQ, but he also teaches you how to identify key words in those MCQ and how to eliminate answers. If you learn how to identify the key words in MCQ you should have no problem passing the exam. Good luck.

I think he taught a couple of lectures in FAR. I actually liked him. He may be a little boring but he's good at getting down to the point.

I haven't taken AUD yet, but I'll probably use yaeger again. They have gotten me through FAR and BEC, and I'm currently using them for REG.

I don't know exactly what the trick is but I can tell you that I failed all 4 exams by using Becker. I then found Another71 and saw that he suggested Yaeger and I am now 3 out of 4. I think they do a great job even if the delivery is a little rough sometimes. In fact, I kind of like that it's a little rough. It makes me feel like they are just normal people. 🙂 Just keep pushing through and you'll make it!

    FAR- 63, 75
    AUD- 61, 78
    REG- 63, 74, 80
    BEC - 63, 61, 75!!!!! I'm done!!!!
