I need some suggestions as to what exam section is more manageable with 5 weeks of study time, AUD or REG.

    Thank you.

Really all depends on you, and the amount of time you have to study in those 5 weeks. I can breeze through REG because of my experience in tax. AUD is taking me a little longer (7 weeks).

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!

As san4596 said, it depends on your strengths and study materials. I went through reg quickly, but audit was miserable. Meanwhile, other people love audit.

I started working in Tax earlier this year, but I still think that AUD would be easier to master in 5 weeks. I took it in May, and I failed because I didnt put in enough study hours. The summer and warm weather distracted me a lot. Read a lot, memorize, and you should be fine.

    FAR - Apr 2013 - PASSED
    REG - Oct 2013 - PASSED
    AUD - Apr 2014 - PASSED
    BEC - May 2014 - PASSED

I always see people say that one or the other is easier because they work in auditing or tax. However, EVERY person I know that works in auditing that studied for AUD and thought it would be “easy” ended up failing, some of them pretty bad (scores in the 45-55 range).

I'd also guess that tax might be the same, but to a lesser degree. Personally, I would choose AUD before REG if I only had 5 weeks of study time unless you're a tax person.

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 94
    REG - 86
    BEC - 86

I don't work in either field (private accounting) but have taken both exams. The AUD exam in my opinion does not go into the level of detail that REG does. I feel that you could get by on studying at the higher level as opposed to REG where you must know the fine details.

    B - 80 (Aug 2012)
    A - 89 (Jan 2013)
    F - 77 (May 2013)
    R - 83 (Nov 2013)

If you have five weeks to study and are working full-time, I say go with AUD.

If you aren't working or can otherwise study a ton, then go with REG.

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)
