Re-schedule AUD, or cram?

Hi Everyone–Asking for a little advice. I’m scheduled to take audit next Friday. To be honest, I haven’t devoted as much studying to the exam as I should have, but I’ve unfortunately had the experience of taking this section a couple times before, so I at least have a “study base.”

My question is…do I cram for the next week and take the exam, or should I re-schedule for the next test window? How big a deal is the new clarified auditing standards? Is it going to radically change the study materials? I don’t know what to do…HELP!!

Definitely don't reschedule for the next window. It wastes this window. If you want to reschedule (which there's nothing at all wrong with doing), reschedule to the latest day you can get in this window (i.e., May 31st). I've rescheduled 3-5 times. Sometimes I did it a month in advance and didn't have to pay extra fees. Other times it was much closer to the exam date, and I did have to pay extra fees.

It's probably just a tiny change that will only affect 1-2 questions in the exam, but I could be wrong. Not much changes year to year.

It's nice you've studied for it before; will make things easier. From now on, schedule a test every 45 days. Good luck.

tl;dr – Reschedule for the end of May.

I would say don't reschedule or reschedule for the very very end of May.

Dedicate yourself to studying, drill MC. You don't want to take the risk of studying too much and then forgetting what studied in the beginning.

    You can do it!

Thanks for the advice. I tried looking at all the Prometric sites around me, and they were all booked up until the end of May at this point, so it looks like I'm going to go for it on the 17th! The fact that you both said not to wait for the next testing window (I'm assuming because of the clarified standards), was enough to help me make the decision. Thanks!

So the next week shall be interesting since I work a full time job, and it's quarter end closing. FUN!!

Thanks for the good luck…I'll need it!

Don't worry if you don't pass. It'll give you more experience either way. Keep checking the Prometric site. Someone could still cancel by today or tomorrow.

I don't know your financial situation, but if you can afford it I would take it this window. If you don't have much time to study, do mostly mcqs. Best bang for your buck.

If you haven't passed a section yet, then you could reschedule for another window. The main reason I said not to was because if you had passed a section before, you don't want to waste a window (since scores expire after 18 months). But if that is not the case, don't worry about rescheduling next window. You still have today and tomorrow to reschedule. Can't reschedule 5 days before the exam date I believe.

If you are pressed for study time…drill MC. Just keep doing them everychance you can.

I never actually felt ready for any of the exams I took. Not once did I feel “good” going in. You probably know more than you think and continuing to do MC until you want to puke will solidify it in your head.

    You got this!

CALL the Prometric sites around you. They may have openings not shown online.

Otherwise, what are you doing here? Cram, cram, cram!

    CPA exam: Done!

    Thank You, Lord.
