when i was studying for aud i did all the ninja sims but didn't focus on getting them right as much as understanding the syntax if each question and answer. in other words i focused on what it was asking and making sure i understood the solution in that context. i also was very familiar with the standards – pull up the AICPA home page for audit standards and read the descriptions for each. read a few to familiarize yourself with structure and format. know which ones exist amd how to find them fast. while you study sims worry less about overall reaponse time but work to speed up your searches of the standards because you will have access to them during the exam.
also know adjusting entries. there was a link posted repeatedly on here for those but searched and cannot find it now. google it.
i posted tips here for sims but i did not have drs when i tested:

Actually I have another question. Does AL actually help with more SIMS in AUD? For REG I never felt it worthwhile to use AL for SIMS except research ones.

absolutely the AL is important for AUD. everything you study for the exam is based on the standards. when you read the ninja mcq responses the standard is cited. read a few of those and you will see how tightly the wording fits – knowing what standards exist and how to find them will help you get through the exam sims accurately and fast.
if you are struggling with the material it will help things click.

I used the AL heavily on both of my AUD tests for more than just the research question. It also helped me a lot on the REG sims and I believe that is why my score was so high.

First go at the CPA! Only using Becker
    Reg / Nov 2015 - 87
    Far / Apr 2016 - 79
    Bec / May 2016 - 80
    Aud / Aug 2016

I would practice navigating the AL and when you get a TBS that you might not grasp fully, research it and see if it can be found in AL. You know when people say they found a SIM WORD for WORD, I had one of those. Felt like I won the lottery. When I finished that SIM, I would search key words from ALL my sims to see if I could find the answer in the AL.

(I hope this doesn't count as exam disclosure)

As for practicing sims, I would go back and reread your choices and why you got them. Like you thought something was about completeness instead of existence. Understanding WHY your thought process was like that and change it to HOW it should be thinking like an auditor.

Maybe use the sims to learn about topics you're not sure about, but I wouldn't spend hours doing them and getting disgruntled(or in my case extremely sleepy). I usually just look at the solution and write out the specific topic the sim is testing you on. On the actual exams I had FAR like sims and other complex sims I wasn't really sure about, but you just try your best. Definitely practice the research sim. If you can get all of those correct, you will probably get the exam one correct.

Thanks. Right now the Performing category of MCQ is giving me the most grief.
