Possible AUD overkill?

So my AUD test is tomorrow morning at 8:30 and I have probably been studying for about 24 of the last 30 hours. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of the material but find myself just continuing to keep testing myself either with Becker progress tests or cpareviewforfree.com. Is it possible I can overdo it? I just want to make sure I am totally ready though I am feeling a bit fried right now. Plus my test is early so I won’t really have time to study in the morning. Any thoughts on this?

Have you done Becker's practice final? If so, what were your results?

I did take the Practice Final and averaged about 75 on the MC and about 65 on the sims, kind of why I continued to study my butt off. I do feel a bit better as I took that final yesterday at the beginning of this study marathon and feel like I do have a much better grasp of the material now. I have been scoring no less than 84% on 100 question progress tests and 80% on 20 question cpareviewforfree tests. I just hope I am ready because I do not want to have to study for and take this exam again.

On the progress tests in Becker Ive been scoring 80-90 but the practice final gave me a lot of trouble. My test is this saturday.. The practice final got me feeling a bit discouraged.

@foreseeablecpa – I have learned through my previous experiences with FAR and REG that the Becker Final is basically geared to shred your confidence LOL. I did horribly in each of those and went on to pass the exams so I am hoping the same goes for AUD. I actually did better on the AUD final than I did in the FAR and REG finals so I am really hoping that the extra study time I put in afterward has got me ready to roll. I am sure you will be ready to roll too. Good luck to us both!!!

Yeah I hope we both get passing scores! On my FAR Becker practice exam I scored in the 70's and still managed to pass the real exam. Do you think I should try repeating the AUD final exams or just focus on the progress tests? Im so overwhelmed right now.

I think progress tests are good at drilling the concepts for each chapter so that they almost become second nature. I also wrote notes on the questions and explanations for the ones I would get wrong just to keep it fresh in my mind as to why I got them wrong and I have been reviewing those notes as well. I better pass this thing LOL!!!

No kidding about the Becker Final Exams ruining your confidence. I never touched them for BEC or FAR, but decided to try them the day before I actually took AUD. I got maybe half of them right and panicked thinking I wasn't ready….ended up with a 98 on AUD, lol.

Im having a bit of trouble with the cycles. especially when it asks about assertions. I hope this area isnt tested too much. I know a lot of people have trouble with this as well. Its like if the cpa exam tested heavily on Consolidations on FAR, everyone would most likely fail.. its very difficult to comprehend

You should definitely continue to try and drill down the assertions as (without trying to disclose) they will definitely be tested. Obviously everyone's test is different so the extent of the questioning will just depend on your test, but if you feel like you can't get it then just keep working as much as you can and hopefully it will stick by the time you sit for the exam. I feel pretty good about how I did but it will be a terrible month long wait until I find out. Let me know what it is exactly you are having trouble with. I felt like by the time I took the test I had a good grasp on the assertions.

I'm doing a bunch of 30 mc progress quizzes and been getting 75-90s. But when I just focus on chapter 4 in becker, my scores go down to like 60-70s. Overall, I feel decent but am scared Im going to get a ton of cycle questions.

The way I basically remembered it especially for completeness and existence was the whole tracing for completeness (going from documentation up towards the financial accounting system) and vouching for existence (going from the accounting system down towards the documentation). That really helped me. Just try to understand where in the process of financial accounting/reporting something is. For example, going from the shipping document to the sales invoice would be tracing for completeness. Hope this helps a little.

    Thanks, appreciate it.

One thing I am confused about is when they talk about physically going to the warehouse for evidence. They talk about tracing and vouching equipment and inventory. Thats what I start to get confused.

Just remember tracing is for the completeness assertion and vouching is for the existence assertion. Don't really know how to help you figure out the other assertions like rights and obligations or cut-off. I guess you just have to understand the wording of the question and what it is the auditor is doing to determine which assertion the auditor is testing for.
