Hi all so my AUD exam is on Thursday and I’m practicing research questions and simulations to become accustom to the AL and I’m so confused as to why my answer is wrong. Here we go:
Question: When preparing the auditors report, the audit assistant believes the auditor’s report can never reference the findings of a specialist. The audit manager disagrees. Which citation in the professional standards supports the Audit Managers Position?
My Answer: AU-C 620.15: If the auditor makes reference to the work of an auditor’s external specialist in the auditor’s report because such reference is relevant to an understanding of a modification to the auditor’s opinion, the auditor should indicate in the auditor’s report that such reference does not reduce the auditor’s responsibility for that opinion.
Correct Answer: AU-C 620.14: The auditor should not refer to the work of an auditor’s specialist in an auditor’s report containing an unmodified opinion
The reason I chose my answer is due that to my understanding that the question is looking for the AL that is proving the Audit Manager is correct in that you can make reference to a Specialist under certain circumstances, which my answer says.
How does the softwares answer of “The auditor should not refer to the work of an auditor’s specialist in an auditor’s report containing an unmodified opinion” provide any evidence that you CAN refer to the work of the specialist. Its just saying you don’t make reference if its an unmodified opinion but doesn’t provide any additional information on what you would do when the opinion is modified.
Can someone please explain to me why my answer is wrong because this could be the difference between a passing or failing grade!
