No experience with auditing and forget most I learned at college. I feel like I am studying my third language! Currently using Gleim and will finish the study unit 2 tomorrow. 20 study units! Work full-time and now is the busiest month – being audited. Scheduled for December 5. Should I reschedule or continue on?

Feel this is the hardest exam.

Any advice for preparing AUD and what are the heavy tested topics?

Audit was like a foreign language to me as well. It’s very conceptual and not black and white. You have to really put yourself in the shoes of an auditor and think of which procedure they would use depending on where they are in the Audit cycle. It’s hard to do when you haveent been an auditor.

AUD gave me much more problems than FAR and BEC because it is so conceptual. I prefer calculations rather than conceptual tasks. You just have to bury yourself in the material and rework your mcq’s, tbs, and review your notes. Maybe someone who is an auditor has better advice than me. Just know you are not alone!

Here's the deal – no audit in college, very little experience except anxiety when auditors came to me for info at my company.

I purchased Ninja Notes and Audio first, then watched the Becker vids. It's like having a very long movie preview with useful spoilers. Then when you get to the nuts and bolts – it's easier to say “this is where we are in the process”. Otherwise you're just eating an elephant. Tail first or head first – it's all the same after about 10 bites.

PS – I think Dec is enough time but you gotta put the spurs to it.

PS2 – you could call my Audit pass a “photo finish” so ymmv.

I was in the same boat as you when it came to Audit. No experience working @ any firm and the entire process of auditing is very abstract. My entire study process (July through Sept) I knew this was going to be the exam I failed bc I couldn't fit the pieces together to make a clear picture.

In the end Audit is what it is – do not get involved in detail! If you generally know the differences between types of audits AND you understand the entire process among other broad details you will be ok. Some things you can educatedly guess based on just general accounting knowledge. Stick to the key concept of what an audit is and does.

Until you actually perform an audit you cannot piece the puzzle together and that is ok for the exam! SIMS I got nervous with the talk of FAR being mixed in but I think that can actually help!

Also, I know you said you are using Gleim – I cannot speak for this course but I am using Roger and Ninja for MCQ. Audit I got sooo frustrated with the lectures – he went so quick and felt like I wasn't learning anything in detail (I didn't realize that was the point at the time). I ended up skipping and going to Ninja MCQ which I strongly feel has been my key to passing the exams. Ninja was most like the exam – question set up and wording. Sure some overlapping but 2/3 exams I used Ninja and I think the MCQ saved me where I lacked in SIMS knowledge.
