only 3 weeks left- AUDIT vs BEC

I had a plan to sit for AUDIT at the end of the month and BEC next week but when I went to register all the dates for AUDIT were full besides next week. So I thought maybe I could change my plan and stop studying BEC and try to cram AUDIT in.

I need advice on if it is possible to sit for AUDIT after a week of studying, approximately 12 hours everyday? I know it sounds crazy but I really do not want to worry about the exam in January or additional changes that may be implemented. If I took AUDIT in a week, than that leaves me with 1 week and 3 days for BEC. Does that sounds realistic? Or should I not try to rush through it and possibility failing both. I really do not know but thought I would post this for people who took either section and could help me out. Thank you.

Are you taking it for the first time?

If yes, then I would never attempt to do it in a week for Audit. I haven't taken BEC, so can't say whether it's manageable. There was someone on the website who said he studied Audit in 10 days and passed. He went through each chapter a day (Becker has 5 chapters) and redid them again thus 10 days total!!

If you are taking it for the 2nd time, it might be possible. I took REG (2nd) time by studying for a week, and got 72. Obviously, I failed and I was only able to go over 4 chapters rather than 7. I studied 8hrs a day that time as well and wasn't successful. Audit has only five chapters, so it might be possible if you are retaking it!

If you can afford more time, def do that! No point in failing both and wasting over $300 or so.

    Either way, good luck!

If it's your first time taking it, I wouldn't do it either. Stick with BEC for now…

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

Did you try looking at multiple test sites in your area? This happened to me, but I was able to find the date that I wanted at another site. You may have to drive farther, but the additional time will be worth it. Big lesson for me was to schedule my exam date as early as possible!

Thank you everyone for the advice. I agree, and am going to stick with BEC. I don't think the stress either is worth it.

@AMCCPA- I looked into that and the next closest test center is over 100 miles away. Oh well, guess it is my lesson learned– schedule them as early as possible.

I'm glad to hear you decided to keep to one exam for now. If it were my first time, I definitely would not try and cram two tests together. If it were my second time, there is no way I would do that. At that point I would be trying to be positive that I am fully prepared for the next attempt. I know it feels like the exams are just a shot in the dark, they are somewhat, but not so much that you can just go through the materials barely and hope to pass. Then again, if you have a crazy good memory system, then I would say why not.

In the end, you will waste much more time by not giving yourself ample study time and ending up retaking one or more sections than if you take your sweet time on the first and second exams to see how much prep you need to understand the concepts. Good luck on BEC, it's not a very tough exam (but this is compared to some real mind-twisting brethren). That said, please don't underestimate it. Pass rates for BEC are about 5% higher than the next exam, so yes more people pass, but not many. Plenty do not pass, and it is my opinion that it is because a lot of people blow it off thinking it's just simple economics and IT stuff. It's not terrible, but there are some concepts that will require your time. Best of luck!

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)
    AUD 86 (11/29/11)
