Let me preface this by saying that after taking all 4 exams on the old test, I think everyone has their own strategy and study method that works for them. To me, the key to this exam is knowing how you need to study for it. On the 3 exams I passed (BEC, FAR, and REG), I believe I passed because I focused on the Becker lectures and understood the content. I have never practiced a SIM so far and I’ll only focus on MCQs for the chapters that are important (FAR-governmental, non-for-profit, REG- corps, partnerships, 1231 property). I would say I studied approximately 45 hours for BEC, 65 hours for FAR, and 80 hours for REG. I believe I failed AUD because I only had 3 weeks to study for it while working and focused on MCQs the final week of studying. I got a 71 and apparently did better on the SIMs. The easy answer for my AUD retake would be to not change up what has worked for me. However my timeline and the new exam have me seeking advice.
Though I have off from work until the middle of May, I go to Italy in 14 days and I would like to put this exam to rest. I’d rather be thinking about my score than feeling obligated to study. If this was the old exam, I know I would be able to put in the preparation to pass because I would not practice a SIM. This new exam has me thinking I should practice SIMs and ensure a passing score for August. Thoughts?
