Looking at the new exam format for AUD. 5 Testlet’s.

    1st Testlet: 45 Mins for 36 MCQ’s.
    2nd Testlet: 45 Mins for 36 MCQ’s.
    3rd Testlet: 30 Mins for 2 TBS’s.
STANDARD BREAK CLOCK STOPS (15 mins I’m Guessing).
    4th Testlet: 70 Mins for 4 TBS’s.
    5th Testlet: 50 Mins for 3 TBS’s.

Now obviously you’re allowed to take and optional break in between them. But for the “standard” break, do you have to? Do you have to wait the full 15 mins?

According to the updated Candidate Bulletin that was just released, the new standard break is optional. I would assume taking only 5 or 10 minutes (instead of the full 15 minutes) would be acceptable as well.

Page 51: “In addition to the optional breaks between testlets, which count against your testing time, you will be offered
a standardized, 15-minute break approximately midway through the Exam section which may be accepted or
declined. This break will not count against your testing time.”

please correct me if I am wrong so 18 less MCQs but 2 more SIMS compared to the Q1 format. Who thinks the SIMS will be easier since there are MORE of them ? just wondering as the SIMS is what messes me up. Does anyone know a good review course for SIMS that are close to the actual exam. Roger and Wiley test bank did not cut it.

Make sims more easier and flood the market with new CPA's? I highly doubt that, just look at the DRS sims that came out last year and the fuss people are giving it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprise they'll start making DRS more common on sims.

shawn in VA: I don't have reason to believe the SIMS will be easier. Probably not. What I couldn't get information on: now that there are 3 testlets of TBS, compared with 1, are these testlets subject to multi stage testing? Up until now, the way it worked was: everyone started the 1st mcq testlet at a “medium” level. From there, the following 2 mcq testlets were either “medium” or “hard” depending on your performance in the 1st testlet (if you got 30 out of 30 right, you would get a “hard” testlet. While more challenging, answering “hard” questions amounts to higher point value than “medium”).
