I failed AUD by 5 points and I hate myself like hell. Wasting my entire summer just to fail….

I started studying BEC a few weeks ago and am in chapter 4, I plan to take it October 1.

When should I retake AUD? I start work October 8 and am feeling like pure sh*t

    🙁

Sorry to hear bad news bro. Don't feel like you've wasted your time, you scored a 70, which demonstrates the knowledge is there, you just need to work harder. A lot of fail the first time. This might seem crazy, but any chance you can speed up studying for BEC and take it next week? Go at it with anger and pass it? This will motivate you for AUD, which you can retry at the beginning of October, and you might be 50% done by the time you start work. Supplement with Wiley and Ninja notes, and you're almost guaranteed a passing score (assuming you put in the hard work).

anyways, maybe then I can take AUD on October 1. I can always retake BEC in October as well. Ok

stick to ONE review course, read the book and work the MCQs many many times…Also, get the SIMS from CPAReviewForFree…keep your head up David…this shit is the craziest thing I've ever done in my life…

Yeah, it sounds like a crazy idea… but I think it's worth a shot! It's only Tuesday, I assume you aren't working now? If you're on B4, I think you have plenty of time. Finish B5 by Friday and leave a week to review. I think you should understand all the topics, but maybe make sure you have IT and COSO stuff down? My exam was really random, but BEC has been my favorite section to study for… it's very intuitive. Good luck!

Hoping to take AUD October 1, and then the rest will know later. God i hate this shtty exam!! AAAHHHHGGFHFHFFR!

I know that feel, bro. I received a 74 my first section. I wouldn't say you wasted your summer because a 70 shows you have a solid foundation in the material. I would re-take BEC and push AUD to later. This way you'll build upon what you've already learned.

Oh and congrats Terminator! You did it!

This will be good for you! Cramming is huge component of these exams, it's all about short-term memory!

@DavidB1990 how many times did you go over the mc choice, you should at least do it three times

@cpa510 – Three times?! That seems like a lot. Everyone learns differently. I probably did 60% of the multiple choice questions once and was just fine.

@Minimorty if you wanna pass for sure then i would do it. besides once you master the material you quickly go over the mc

How long did you study for AUD? I'm not convinced that moving BEC to 8/31 is wise, if anything I'd retake AUD first but that's just me.

@CPA510, mini is done with the exams now 🙂

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

Most of us here have been in a similar position as you…I failed three times before receive a passing score. My advise is to analyze your study habits and find out what you need to change. For me, it was lack of final review time and not reading/practicing enough MCQs. Once I learned that and changed my habits, I started passing.

Hang in there and you will start seeing passing scores.

PS: Many of us here have superstitious that we follow on the exam day. My fav. is wearing red panty/thongs/boxers, etc.

    GOOD LUCK w/ BEC!!! Practice

    Thanks again everyone.

@cpa510, I did the MC over and over again multiple times. I dont know yet but I think my SIMS killed me, ill find out eventually I guess.

I studied for AUD for 7 weeks. 5 days a week. about 5.5 hours a day and took my precious time and slacked a little bit even knowing how much time I had. I cant take aud this window since I failed it. I might as well take BEC regardless of how ready I am and try for the best, whatever happens I can retake sections that I dont pass the first time around in the next October/November window.

I will try to learn as much as possible and take BEC a week from today. 2 chapters to go and a lot of review …sigh

Telling someone “if you wanna pass for sure I would…. ” is senseless. As Mini pointed out, everyone learns differently. for FAR I did about 75% of the MCQs once, for REG 50% also just once. For AUD I did them all and am glad I did. It really depends on the person, how they learn and how much time they have. Certainly doing MCQs over and over shouldn't be anyones first approach to learning the material.
