Chicago? 20N Clark 16th FL? lol. Took my AUD there on Thursday. They let me took the exam 2 hours earlier. BTW, I hate studying for BEC. AUD took 10 days to study. I wish I can say the same for BEC

I sat for AUD for the first time yesterday at approximately 12:22pm.

I am not sure about everyone else, but the people at my testing center are highly obnoxious and try (and when I say try, I mean fail at trying) to make you laugh and de stress before your exam. Never works, didn't help during January when I took FAR either. No I do not want to take the picture you took of me and make it my default on facebook, and no, I do not need to be asked if I'm ready to take the test. Take my fingerprints, give me my pencils and let me take my test!

Anyway, so the exam. I felt that the first three testlets did not change with regards to difficulty. I saw a few questions repeatedly through out the testlets also. I worked through the MCQs and flaged about 10 across the three testlets. I was able to rationalize my answers after picking through the questions and re-reading them a few times. I left the MCQ testlets with about 2 and a half hours to go. That was with re-reading questions twice and reviewing the entire testlet.

On to the simulations, which just like my experience with FAR, were out of left field!. So rude, I felt like I hadn't prepared myself enough for these. Even if I did the practice simulations 100x over, none would have compared to these. I was able to find an answer to one of them entirely in the authoritative literature. Lets hope they don't make that one a pre-test! With my luck they will. I took about an hour to do the simulations. I couldn't look at them anymore after reviewing them 2x. I would have started to change answers and I usually change them to the wrong answer with my experience in the past so I just ended my exam and left my computer station.

I used Becker self-study and Ninja Study notes to prepare for AUD and I spent 108 hours all together studying. In summary, I feel like a nailed the MCQs and I could go either way on the simulations. I felt the same way leaving my FAR exam. We shall see how I do in June, ugg this waiting process is the worst.

On to BEC next, I will be using Becker self-study again and Ninja Study notes the last week. I will see the lovely staff at my test center again in May, oh joy.

I laughed when the Prometric people asked me to turn my back side jeans pocket inside out. Just how would you do that?

    @cpae2011

did you practice the simulations at all? I had the same problem with the sims last quarter…trying to figure out how to get it right this time around…oh and prometric..lol soo true.

That was pretty much my experience too, felt good about the mcqs and awful about the sims. A few of the sims were just completely out there and resembled nothing I had seen before. I used Wiley to study and spent a good amount of time working on the simulations.

I have a question for those who just took AUD, I failed it in Feb and am retaking it first week of May. I decided to study as if I hadn't at all before, being as my score was pretty low. I finished all the videos (using Yaeger) and am now reviewing 1 to 2 chapters in the Wiley book during the day and doing MC on the Wiley software at night on those chapters to reinforce what I read. I have about 3 weeks till test and next week I plan on studying all day at work 7:30-4:30 b/c my boss will be on vacation and I have down time. I am using the becker 2011 flashcards also. My question is, what number of MC questions is a good amount to be working each day/night? Right now I am probably doing about 50-75, between the book and online test bank. Am I doing enough? Or should I be working more? Any input to my “method” would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! =)

@MM23 – I practiced the sims once after each chapter and then during the 2 final exams from Becker. I feel like I should have done them again but other than that I didn't. I was trying to focus on the material and hoped that it would carry me thru the sims, ugg we shall see.

@WheresMyLuckyCharm – about 2 weeks before the exam I started doing about 2 simulated exams a day so anywhere between 100-200 MCQs. I took out the Becker flashcards the day of the exam and read thru each one once and that was all I did with those. I'm not sure if my method was good or not. I'll find out at the end of June :/

I took AUD today, feeling awful for the sim part.. I could't find the right code for the research simulation, which means I will get no credit for it >_< This will definitely drag my score low… BTW, there was some technical problem on the computers, so we have to wait 2 hours for them to fix it, and then started taking the exam at around 2pm… WTF This is my last section…

luckygirl: You wouldn't happen to be in Chicago, would you? If so, I'm the guy who was similarly delayed for AUD. That sucked. >:[

“Anyway, so the exam. I felt that the first three testlets did not change with regards to difficulty. I saw a few questions repeatedly through out the testlets also.” (per CPAe2011)

That was my exact experience too. I thought I did well on the first testlet, but the second was no harder, so that's making me worry. (And the third was no harder either.)

Sigh…there's just no way to know how you did when you come out of one of these things.

I took the AUD exam today and I noticed the same thing about the testlets! They were the same difficulty to me – moderate. I also had a few repeat MCQs. I really hope that this is just the way the exam was designed, because I thought I was doing well – only a few educated guesses in each testlet. I wasn't prepared for the material in the simulation (nothing like the Becker sims I practiced), but I still think I did pretty well overall. Luckygirl: I also couldn't find the right code for the research sim… but I put one down that indirectly stated what I was trying to find… do they award partial credit on that??

This is going to be a long 6 weeks…

studyingmike: I did take AUD in Chicago yesterday! When I finished there was only me and two staff in the whole test center. I did really bad on sim, because I did not know what I am supposed to search for for the the research sim… The thing is I did well on three sim, two ok, two bad. And one of them should a pre-test sim. I just hope they drop the research sim!! (Actually I calculated my socre myself. The worst score I will get is around 71-72, not considering the difficulty of the questions.) I am soooooooo scared!

FutureCPAinPA: According to my guess, I put the most relevant title ( AU, ET, PCAOB etc) in the blank, but I could't find the section which indicate the situation. When I came back, I searched online and found that there is an exact explanation of the situation under the title I put there. I hope they can give us partial credit. ( Actually I hope my guess in on the right track, which is the problem now.) Besides, I hate to wait for 6 weeks to get my score. This is my last test!

@ChiTownExcelAddict – please let me know if you pass AUD after studying for only 10 days – I took AUD yesterday and bet I put in just short of 300 hrs…I still don't know if it was a pass or fail. I'm going to just hope to be in the percentage of passing scores – good luck with BEC…and super good luck with AUD…we've got a long wait ahead of us.

just left 20 N Clark in Chicago haha got there over an hr earlier since I knew they'd let me late it early. well, the MC q's were OK.. I dont know what to think, I felt absolutely horrible after FAR in January and ended up passing, I feel like I didnt study as much this time so I really dont know what to expect. . only 3 q's on sampling (thank God since i didnt study that part), absolutely no questions on interntional standards (thank God again) the simulations were kinda easier than I expected, but who knows how they grade them?!.. oh well, we'll see..

Yep, 20 N Clark. Luckygirl and I (and 4 others) were delayed 2 hours while they had computer problems.

Then their webcam failed as well, so they had to do mugshot-style photos with somebody's digital camera. They wrote our names in sharpy on 8.5×11″ paper and had us hold it up while they took our pics.

    Good times with Prometric…
