So I sat for Audit for the second time yesterday, just wanted to share a little of my experience…

The multiple choice questions were manageable. I marked 4 in the first testlet, 8 in the second testlet and 5 in the last testlet. I was able to go back to each and mark an answer that I was fairly confident with. So to me the number that I marked indicate that my testlets were MEDIUM, HARD, MEDIUM. Which probably also means that I didn’t do so hot on the second testlet… =/

There were some questions that were directly out of my review materials (both Lambers and Wiley). Some of the questions were on topics that I don’t remember seeing in either review course (but not very many).

    On to the SIMS…

My research question SUCKED! It was so hard to find. I started with it, thinking that it would be the easiest to get out of the way but after about 10 minutes I moved on and came back after I answered all the other SIMS.

I was able to find the answer, finally (I think). I was able to match about 10-12 words from the question directly to the paragraph I chose, so I’m fairly confident.

I left with just over an hour left. So 3 hours total. Pretty sure I used about 1.5 hours for the MCQ’s and 1.5 hours for the SIMS.

Of the 17 questions that I was unsure of, I was able to remember a few (maybe 8) and checked them afterwards. From what I could tell, I got half of those right and half wrong.

I feel confident but who knows with this exam… I’m just praying for a passing score! =P

    B - 79 PASSED (1/4 there!)
    A - 77 PASSED (1/2 there!)
    F - 79 PASSED (3/4 there!)
    R - 83 PASSED (DONE!!!!!!)

Sounds like you had a good experience! And your SIMS sound exactly like the ones I got, we probably got the same exam lol. Were you able to find answers to the theoritical SIMS on the research tab? I was able to find most of them. I predict an 83 : )

Well honestly I didn't use the reseach tab to look for the answers to my SIMS. I should have, because I had ample time.. But I was just too worn out to bother with it once I spent so much time looking through the literature for my research question

So I just used what I knew from my study materials and was able to logically conclude that the answers I chose were the correct answers

Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me in the butt.. =/

    F - 79 PASSED (3/4 there!)

@OnMyWay – Sounds like it went pretty well, congrats! This comment you made above struck me as a little bit odd:

“Well honestly I didn't use the reseach tab to look for the answers to my SIMS. I should have, because I had ample time.. But I was just too worn out to bother with it once I spent so much time looking through the literature for my research question.”

You've been on the forums a long time and you know how important it is to grind out an extra point or two. Did you think to take a 5-15 minute break and then come back and give it a shot? You just put so much time into studying, I guess I just dont understand why you didnt give yourself every possible chance to pass.

@Mini, you are absolutely right, and what I did is so unlike me…

I can't really explain or defend my decision not to grind it out for a better chance of passing. Because in hind sight, that's exactly what I would have done… I guess I just have to chalk it up to being mentally and physically exhausted.

I will be KICKING myself if I don't pass. But I promise I won't blame my review course 😉

Haha. Let's just hope for the best then. Just remember in future exams that the extra time is your friend. Use it to confirm answers, double-check calculations, etc. Every single point counts.

@Mini has a great point… and that's where I was trying to get at. The first time I took AUD, I just answered my SIMS based on what seemed “logical” to me and closed out the test with about 1.5 hours left; needless to say, I bombed it…the second time I took AUD, I used every single minute available to double check all my answers and try to find info on the Research Tab…Although I have read on here that people finish early and still pass with flying colors…We'll keep our fingers crossed for ya.

    Yeah… Hindsight is 20/20 …

Thanks for the well wishes guys! Luckily there's only about a week until score release

Meanwhile, I will be dying a slow agonizing death, analyzing all these coulda, woulda, shoulda's =/

Just kidding! I'm going to Denver this weekend and I vow that the CPA exam will be the farthest thing from my mind ! For those 3 days at least… 😉

The only benefit of not going back is changing a right answer to a wrong one like im sure i did a few times.

I did exactly what you did and left with ample time, and I regretted it. On the other hand, my 3rd shot at AUD I had over 40 min left when I decided I was done. Its the luck of the draw now but glad you're feeling good about it!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

I sat for audit on the 9th and I used the research tab for every question. I did not find answers for all of them because some are just not researchable (know what i mean).LOL

I use the research tab because i was not confident that the answers i chose were 100% correct so i tried to verify my answers the best i could.

On the other hand, if you are sure your answers are correct you dont need to research them. But as they say in audit you only have reasonable ssurance that you did not make a mistake when u dont use the research tab. But when you search and find information that is exactly the same as the one you are asked, then you have absolute assurance that you got that SIMS 100%.

Hoping that we all get good news on the 2/22.

sounds like a good experience. don't put much too much stock in the last testlet being easier. two things: first, it might have seemed easier because you studied your @ss off and knew your stuff , second, when I passed FAR and BEC, the last testlet was way easier than the first two and I still passed.

So, keep the faith!!! I will be rooting for you!!

My only consern about the research tab is that there are more than one accounting literature. I guess most of time, the “AICPA” is the one to go, right?

just took audit today as well.. mcq's seemed quite easy… had 2 horrid simulations, rest were ok, and i also did the mcqs in 90 mins… sims took longer though. i researched the hardest one, and the rest didnt bother.. i too was mentally tired..

the lack of difficulty of the mcqs threw me… even had one question repeated in the 2nd and 3rd testlets…

will just have to see what happens on the 22nd. i hope i pass. i wouldn't know what to study if i had to study for it again… did becker and wiley ques
