So for those of you that don’t know we have had crazy amount of snow here the last few days – thankfully it’s starting to warm up and melt now, however that wasn’t the case yesterday…

After two days of snow and me being in a hotel both of those days trying to study… I got up yesterday and got ready to go… my test wasn’t until 2:30 so I thought I’d get in some NINJA notes study time before hand. Well the power went out at the hotel right after I was done getting ready (WHEW). Went out to my car to assess the damage that the snow had done (remember it had been sitting there for two days getting pounded on with snow and then freezing into ice at night…) took me an hour to get all the snow and ice off of my car… then had to bring all of my stuff down 4 flights of stairs as the elevators weren’t working. Took 20 minutes to get out of the parking lot as there was tons of snow and ice around my car…. Tried to call the prometric site to see if they were even open… went straight to voicemail saying “sorry we’re unavailable right now please leave a message and we’ll get back to you…” uh? Ok does that mean they’re open? closed? Better drive there to make sure…

Get to the testing site (FINALLY – it’s about 1:30 pm now) – they’re open. Ok look over my NINJA notes and walk in around 2:20.

1st testlet – Pretty decent only needed to double check a couple of questions as I always seem to second guess myself…

2nd testlet – harder but still doable, I do mark about 5 questions to double check before I go to the next screen….

3rd testlet – harder … UM? A couple of questions where I was like WHAT?! But think I did OK

have a little over 2:30 hours for SIMS decide to go out and take a break eat a few grapes get a drink of water… thinking ok time to go back in and see what they throw at me!….

SIMS – OMG!!! Seriously brutal. I’m sorry but if that is what AUD sims are wow… there were a couple where I felt OK with not 100% but OK. The research question I think I got but not completely sure…. as for the other 4… I didn’t not understand them it was more of what are they really asking? And why do I have to completely try to remember FAR stuff right now?!

Overall I think I did OK, but to be honest really think this one I may have to retake. Left the testing site wanting to just burst into tears… was an awful day trying to get there and I am definitely glad it is over! Now if only 2/3 would hurry up!

My review course for BEC starts Monday so I’m taking a few days to clear my head and get back on track. What’s done is done now it’s time to change gears and study for BEC and hope for the best for AUD….

@apbandj said: I debated about contacting the AICPA about that. Did you?

Yes, I thought about it. For all of a tenth of a second. Then I remembered that the AICPA doesn't give a crap what any of us thinks and I decided to just not drink anything for 4 hours before an exam. Also, it's really Prometric's fault that they aren't more organized or more concerned with what it's costing the candidates (because they most certainly are AWARE that their proctor who types with one finger and doesn't know the screens is taking that hunting and pecking time from MY exam), and the AICPA would have to fight with THEM over it. I'm so incensed with the state of society these days that I just don't have the energy to fight Prometric over it when I could just not drink anything. I say again, this whole system would benefit from some free-market competition.

@katiekanton Glad that you like my name! Anything that can make us laugh while we suffer through the pain of this exam!

I guess I have been lucky as the Prometric test center I use, has 2 testing rooms and always at least 2 employees at all times, usually 3. I have never had to wait more than a minute to check in or check out from bathroom breaks. Your story and @apbandj's story are awful!

Checking in at the beginning of the exam is another story, there seems to be a longer wait in the afternoon. I always get in to the center 45 to 60 minutes before my exam in case it takes awhile for me to get checked in. Also, they will always let me start early if I am checked in.

The annoying thing is when there are other people there who are taking some other exam and at the test center for the first ime and therefore take forever to get checked in. “Do I really have to empty my pockets, what about my wallet?” Ummm, what party of empty pockets don't you understand?

You know it's bad/sad when the testing staff start to regonize you.

Yo! I completely missed your post on your experience. Glad to hear the MCQs went well. So true on the SIMS. Mine last window were the exact same. Not surprised you saw subjects out of left field, from other sections and just plain freaking vague. Sounds like you're going to do very well. Good luck. Have fun with BEC. 🙂

It is so nice to know I'm not alone out there! I feel the same as everybody else about AUD – I feel like I did really well on the multiple choice but the simulations – not so hot. I got something I wasn't quite sure how to do and I panicked a bit. Hopefully recovered enough for a passing score! I don't know about you all, but I am going crazy waiting for my score to be released. I check it every day, even though I know it won't be up yet. Ugh!

@jjm thanks that “have fun with BEC” sounds a bit sarcastic 😉

I think to everyone who has a problem with breaks – great. For those that do or don't take breaks no biggie – do what works for you. For me I have to take a break before the SIMS and “calm down” a bit and be able to let go of the MCQ's I just did and get into battle mode for the SIMS (HA). Literally my breaks are anywhere from 2-5 minutes and haven't been an issue for me. Also considering the fact that my testing center is NEVER packed and it's simple to check in and out (knock on wood)…..

@khum I am absolutely going crazy I am glad that I have another section to study for right now (ok this is me just trying to convince myself that I am glad…) or else I'd absolutely be checking the site everyday…. is it the 3rd yet? Or rather the 4th? cause that's probably when we'll get them…..

BEC wasn't too bad for me since I was fresh out of my graduate program. Alot of the topics, economics, finance, IT, etc were fresh on the brain. Although I didn't score in the 90s so you couldn't say I fully mastered the topics. I've seen a lot of people struggle with BEC but I think you'll do great. You obviously put in the time and dedication so you should be good to go.
