Lets say there is a multi office firm in California one office in Sf and another in LA. I work as an audit manager in the sf office and also serve on the BOD for corporation x. Corp X asks me if my company can handle the audit of the financial statements. Since I work in the sf office, I know for sure independence would be impaired so I am now trying to see if I can pass the audit to the LA Office and not participate in it.
If I pass it to the la office and do not participate is independence impaired? Is independence automatically impaired in the LA office even if I do not work on the audit because of my management position standing in the corporation x?
What about if I keep it in the sf office but just don’t participate?
