@MintsRGood, thank you for your posts and advice! I'm studying for AUD at the moment, 3 weeks to go. I have a question about the AL. When I took REG, I felt like whenever I tried to use the AL, they had purposely left out the exact information I was looking for so I ended up guessing on questions I didn't know anyway. Basically, I found the AL totally useless except for the research question. How do you recommend using the AL to my advantage when it seems like the info that I most need is missing? Or am I just not looking hard enough? Not sure if it works differently for REG vs. AUD. Again, thanks so much!

    REG - 85
    AUD - 99
    FAR - 89 - w/ NINJA Audio and Blitz
    BEC - 91

@finne On my many rounds with auditing, I had time where I found the AL to be extremely helpful and other times where the AL didn't give me much help! Some people post that they find their SIMS “word for word” in the AL…I'm still waiting on that to happen to me!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love tax and am very familiar with the IRC, so the REG sims helped me tremendously on exam day. I firmly believe the SIMS pushed me over the edge on REG. The business law topics however handed me my lunch and almost cost me a passing score.

Something to keep in mind is that sometimes the AL can put you on the right track if you are drawing a blank on a particular topic. Let's say for example that a SIM is asking you to test assertions relating to a topic and you draw a blank or panic. Go to the AL tab and skim through the auditing standard relating to that topic. You may see a fact nugget in the AL that can jog your memory and get you moving forward again. Leave yourself 2 hours on test day for SIMS so you don't feel rushed and you can use the AL to your best advantage. On my successful attempt, I had a SIM or 2 that I knew cold and felt solid on but I still pulled up the relevant AL to confirm and to make sure I recorded my response correctly. Make sure you practice using the AL when you are studying SIMS so you know where to look for things when the clock is running on exam day!

Best of luck to you on the 27th!!!!! You can do this!!!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks! I will definitely practice using/familiarizing myself with the AL so I can use it to my advantage on exam day.

@MintsRGood…I took my Audit exam today. The MCQs seemed straightforward. I had over 1 1/2 for the SIMs and used just about all of that time. I wish I had known more about the subject matter in the SIMs, but there's really no way of knowing what to prepare for. In any event, time will tell how I've done. I figure it has to be better than my last attempt.

@GMBxNY Congrats!!!!! I'm glad you think it went better than your prior attempt and that you found the MCQS to be straightforward; sounds promising!!!! The SIMS are always nasty, I don't care what section you are taking so don't lose sleep over them. What part are you taking next? If you haven't taken BEC yet, consider it for your next section. There is a fair amount of audit crossover into BEC, IMO.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you on score release day!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi MintsRGood…I received my results, unfortunately I did not pass. I scored a 64 in Audit. It's better than last fall's score (44), but I need to put together a new strategy going forward. I'll revisit your strategy and I'm sure to read the Wiley book in greater detail since I believe it has helped with some concepts especially when it came to the SIMs which were as always brutal. My exam window ran from March – Sept (9/20). Would you know how soon I would be able to acquire another NTS for Audit given the fact I'm still within my exam period? Thank you.
