I use Gleim and my MCQ practice scores are in the high 80’s which leads me to believe I’ve memorized answers. I’ve noticed with AUD, more so than their other modules, that the questions are all very similar so it is easy to pick the right answer quickly. I only have two days to the exam so I don’t want to purchase another test bank (yeah, I know Jeff is awesome and Ninja is cheap). What are other strategies people use when they think they’re answering based on memory? I try to think about why the other answers aren’t correct and in certain instances list other qualities. Example, if the question asks about a specific attestation standard I’ll try to list all of them.

I’m concerned I’m setting myself up for a not so great test experience and don’t want to be overconfident in my knowledge. Any suggestions?

I did all available MCQs in Gleim by choosing maximum number during the test prep. I agree that when you see questions the second or third time you will definitely know the answer right away without even thinking. What I do is before I pick the answer (even for familiar questions) I think of reason(s) why it is correct or why the others are wrong. Then if I come up with the same explanation as the material, then that means I understand the concept behind it. Also, did you do SIMs in all study units? If you did and your scores are as high as your MCQs then that's also a sign that you know the concept. Did you do the Exam Rehearsal? What's your score?

This is why I added Ninja MCQ that has some different questions compared to the other test banks. CPAby2015 is right though, even if you have seen the question before, give the reasons why it is the right answer or why the other options are wrong. That will help you out the most.

Thanks guys! I did the exam rehearsal, score of 88. 81 out of 90 on MCQ. However, for each chapter I did all of the questions in the book and in Gleim online so I'm not sure how many of the exam rehearsal questions were totally new. Exam rehearsal did take me the full four hours so it wasn't like I was able to rush right through. In Test Prep I select to only see questions I've not seen before but since they use the same test bank for study sessions and practice tests they aren't truly new. Yes I did all the SIMs, some were better than others but average score is high 70's. I'm doing the SIMS WIzard now and scoring in the 75 – 85 range depending whether I allow myself to use the AL.

If I wasn't on my last exam that I'd consider Ninja, plus everyone here raves about it, but with only two days and 6-8 hours of study time available it doesn't seem worth it. I've been very happy with Gleim just with AUD I feel like I'm memorizing the answers. Perhaps with the other sections and all the flipping calculations I wasn't running into the same scenario.

I think the exam rehearsal is using the same test bank so if it took you full four hours to complete it, that means you took it seriously and never felt overly confident even if you knew the answer. I think you should be fine, just read carefully the questions in the actual exam even if you feel like you've seen them before. Sometimes, a single word can change the answer. You can also scan thru the AUD Study Group, there were great questions posted there.

I used Gleim only when I took FAR and the result was great and now I'm using it again for AUD without any other supplement, so I'm hoping it will turn out well. My exam is in 4 days so good luck to us!

Guys, i used Gleim for Audit and had the same experience. I scored 93 on the rehearsal exam and was averaging 83 in MCQ's and around 76 in SIMS, my actual exam result was 82.

Please share with me your experience of studying REG with Gleim, I really find it quite challenging. I am averaging 65 in SIMS and around 80 in MCQ's. I am scheduled to sit 11/26.

In my opinion Gleim covers it all so no need for extra TB's, I did however use NN for Audit and they were extremely helpful for topics like Sampling etc.

How far into REG are you? My averages (excluding test prep) for all chapters were:

MCQ1: 63

MCQ2: 83

SIMS: 82

Exam rehearsal: 84

Real exam score: 84

So far all my true exam scores have been reflective of Gleim averages, within a couple of points. With REG I found the hardest material to be negotiable instruments and the SEC laws of who could be negligent. Oh, actually holder in due course was challenging for me too. I found I just had to slog through it, Gleim really does go in-depth so at times I wanted to poke my eyes out. I didn't mind the tax sections, I tend to find the calculation problems easier than all these conceptual problems. I suspect that is due to different ways people learn and process info. I do much better without so many gray (like AUD!).

Thanks for your input. I agree with you calculation problems are much easier than conceptual problems. I guess I just need to practice more so that it sticks better.
