InactiveI have the auditing exam 2 weeks from today. Would like to know what are the main topics to focus on? Also, what is the best way to remember everything? I do well on the homeworks with scores of 80s-90s, however I feel there is just so much detail for auditing than FAR. Thanks in advance!

InactiveI think the main topics are Sampling, Reports, and knowing the differences between reviews/compliations/audits/other services.

ParticipantIn Becker Gearty points out A3 and A4 as being heavily tested which are Engagement Acceptance, Planning, and Risk Assessment and A4 is Audit Evidence.
However, based on my past experience of taking the exam, any material is fair game. You cant just focus on one thing because you might actually end up having more questions on your exam in areas that you blew off. I had a question the last time I took audit that was from a sentence in the book from a chapter I just glossed over. I will not be making that mistake. I am putting forth 100% towards everything.
You have two weeks, I would say instead of focusing on what you or others may say is heavily tested (because every test we get is different) and do questions from every chapter over and over. And then try to also focus on your weak areas. I know when I retake my exam what I was heavily tested on the last time I took might not be what is heavily tested on my retake.
Good Luck.
AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
BEC - 8/20/2016
REG - TBD
FAR - TBDI am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

ParticipantEverything is fair game on exam day and every exam is different. Even if I told you what I saw on my 4 rounds with audit, which I wouldn't because that is a disclosure violation ahem ahem ahem, it wouldn't help you because every exam is different. Audit is horrible like that. What materials are you using?
How to remember everything? Let us know if you figure that one out because I say that you can't! 🙂 You need to have a solid foundation on everything in the content outline and be reasonably familiar with the rest. If you are scoring 80-90's on your homework then you are in great shape!!!
How are your SIMS going? Be sure to spend time practicing your SIMS using the authoritative literature. If you neglect your sims, you may end up with a 71. Just saying from personal experience! 😉
REG: 75 DONE 🙂
AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂

MemberAUD retake 11/27. Method as follows (w/Becker):
30 MCQ progress tests on each chapter (one at a time). Review results, identify & restudy areas of weakness. Repeat 3 times. Cover a few sims (mainly the research in the AL)
After 2 chapters, do a cumulative 30 MCQ progress test on both chapters. Again review, identify & restudy. Repeat
Eventually (prob Monday) I will increase the progress tests to 90 MCQ's and add in 4 or 5 SIMS on all 6 chapters. THe most important part is to identify your weak areas and re-study that material until you are confident.
See you in the “Passed AUD” forum!
AUD (7/31/13) 66... Retake (11/27/13) 90 & DONE!
BEC (8/28/13) 85
REG (10/4/13) 86
FAR (11/6/13) 79Yeah... We're putting new cover letters on all our TPS reports ...Did you get that memo?

MemberI assumed that the most important topics were the one which had the most MCQs in Wiley Test Bank. These were evidence, reports, and internal control. Wiley had only 35 MCQ on sampling… but everything can be on exam…
FAR: 81 (May 2013)
BEC: 81 (July 2013)
REG: 83 (August 2013)
AUD: 82 (November 2013)

InactiveJust went back over my study notes and I also took a lot of notes on evidence and internal control. I agree with everyone that you need to look at everything, but you definitely need to put more emphasis on really knowing some subjects more than others. For instance–clarity changes are not being fully tested on yet so as long as you know what the main changes are then I think you'll be fine. International auditing probably won't be a main topic either, but I think it's important to know the differences between International standards and GAAP standards. I used Kaplan, Ninja Notes, and the Wiley Test Bank to take my notes so that's what I'm basing my opinion on. If you have Becker I would focus on what they consider the main topics because many people have stated on this forum that their test had Becker questions word for word, but I can't attest to that personally.
