    Hi everyone,

I’m using Yaeger and just took FAR (fingers crossed). I thought I had figured out how to study efficiently after FAR, but I’m realizing that AUD is a totally different animal.

For instance, in FAR the lecturer would point out a specific section to focus greater attention on (ex.: T/S journal entries) so I could emphasize that and work my way out to the less emphasized areas if I had time (ex.: share based payments). With AUD, the lecturer points out a specific part to pay attention to, but that part is meaningless if not in context –hence I’ve just made my first outline and realized that I practically re-typed the darn chapter and effectively wasted the last 2 hours. To my point…

HOW DO YOU GUYS ATTACK THIS MONSTER??

I'm using Becker so it's a little different for me. I read the chapter and take specific notes on the mnemonics and tables in the chapter. It seems like the best thing to do is memorize all that you can. Try to memorize the reasoning behind everything too so you won't get tripped up when the information is presented differently.

First, look at the CSO outline – Study it for a second. You will see that Planning, internal Control and Evidence makes up about 50-65% of the exam , if not more. The rest is sprinkles of reports, sampling and stuff.

I would talk my self out loud and act as a auditor and keep telling myself where the auditor is, in which stage i am auditing this company. If the examiners ask a question about planning only 1 will be correct & BCD will be wrong, hence BCD will be on internal control & evidence.. So in order to answer questions correctly, you have to master these 3 major components.

This will come with practice, understand the material, apply MCQ's keep doing this routine, question yourself why BCD are wrong?

I've had to modify my study approach for each section with Yaeger, so don't feel like you're the only one. For Audit, the most helpful thing I did was to read the modules. Gary is good at explaining things and tells you key points, but I never really got the big picture until I read the book. As I'm sure you've noticed, doing MCQ's for AUD goes so much quicker than FAR b/c they're virtually no calculations. Good luck!
