I received stronger and comparable on everything BUT SIMS!

How do you study to get better at them?

I was pretty sure I aced the research questions and at least a few of the sims.

I knew the SIMS with the calculations were my weak point, but there was no way I could have been prepared for them.

Ugh, calculations continue to be my achilles heel. I plan on retaking in October.

Become a guru of using the authoritative literature. I used it for every sim on my 3rd try instead of only on the research question. Know what the keywords to search with are.

@mla1169 – Do you have any advice for how you prepared at becoming a guru of the AL? I have my exam in a week and while I feel pretty prepared for the MCQ, I feel less prepared for the SIMS. I am hoping to use the AL to supplement (somewhat) my being less prepared in that area. I'd like to hear how you went about it or any tips you would have. Thanks!

There's probably a better way to do it but I opened the website (can't even remember maybe it was the aicpa website, or whatever it was) and started looking up answers to the questions in the Wiley book.

@DBlue – exact same thing happened to me. I know for next time I will be sure to know how to effectively utilize the authoritative lit…bummed I didn't become more familiar with key words to search or overall strategy with the SIMS….
