Huge improvement in your MCQ comparables, Winnie– you should celebrate that!

Then on to figure out how to improve your score on the SIMs. What are you doing to prepare for those specifically? I feel they do need special attention.

@kimboroni I see that we took the exam on the same day. How did you prepare for the sims? For my prep I did the all of the wiley book sims. I guess it wasn't enough. Next time around planning to do the sims in the wiley test bank and practice using the AL tab. It seems everyone finds it useful for the exam. Tried using it during the test but couldn't find anything useful. Maybe I just need more practice with it

The first time I took FAR I got a 73, scored overall weaker on the MCQs and comparable on the SIMS. I just retook it and I got a 77. Tried to really focus on my MCQs. My overall was stronger on MCQs and weaker on SIMS. It's so hard to use the score card as a judge for anything…

I did all of the WTB sims and some in the Wiley book. But I think it also really helped that I had just taken my 2 audit courses, both with teachers who were very good at breaking things down into “what you need to know to do an audit.”

The AL didn't seem that helpful to me either (except for research, of course), even though I read on here that people found the answers word for word.

I read here that Gleim has good sims and almost bought them two days before the test to get in more practice.

It seems pretty straightforward to me. You nailed the MCQs but bombed the sims. Also there's a LOT more room to be weaker in a subject (0-75ish) than there is to be strong (75/80/whatever-max score). At you have a solid starting point for the next round.

to confuse matters further, I got a 69 on FAR and I was weaker on everything except government, where I had comparable. With that score IMO I was towards the higher end of the weaker designation… because people do post 50,60. There a lot of leeway in those categories.
