jjm1181ParticipantOy vey…I was rockin' it up until a week ago. I had went through all the lectures and taken hundreds of pages of notes. Then…I took last weekend off to celebrate my b-day in NYC and it's been a struggle since then. Motivation has severely declined for some reason. I couldn't do much studying last week due to working late nights. I am just now going through the MCQs for the first time. I am just starting A2 MCQs. With TurkeyDay this week and family, I am worrying I won't get much studying done before the exam on Nov. 30th. I haven't read the NINJA notes and haven't even touched the Wiley test bank. I have a LOT of ground to make up this week and it's a bad week to do that.
I assume your in the same boat if you're thinking about putting it off til Jan…right?

jenuno01MemberHi! @AshleyCap! There you are!! I was wondering where you and JMM were! I knew the 3 of us were sitting for AUD on Nov 30th, so I would look for your guys' posts..maybe as a means to motivate me? Lol… I am doing very well actually, I only have A5 to do at this point! And I have next week off from work, so I should have more than enough time to review! I have completely changed my studying method for AUD, so I am a bit nervous to see what results I get!
Sorry to hear you may have to reschedule! – Did you fall behind?

iPassMember@Ashley,
I believe you take AUD on 29th, seems like you still have time, including long holiday weekend. Are you sure you don't want to give it a try?
BEC - 10/12/2011 - 78
AUD - 11/23/2011 - 84
FAR - 02/22/2012 - 76 (I'll take it!)
REG - 08/31/2012ΒWin as if you were used to it, lose as if you enjoyed it for a change.Β

AnonymousInactiveIt has been rough going ever since the 31st of October for me. Had to put down my cat of 15 years and just haven't found the motivation since then to get going like I was for FAR. I have not done ANY MCQ's yet and haven't touched the ninja notes. I have my notes for the 5 lectures but other than that… I would LOVE to be able to take my test still on the 29th but I'm not sure at this point if it's possible especially with Thanksgiving (even though I am not cooking this year as I usually do….) What are your thoughts?
I am with you JJM are you going to see how you do this week? or are you just going to reschedule?
@Jenuno01 I'm so glad that one of us is ahead of schedule and making good time! What are you doing different this time?
@ipass my AUD exam is scheduled for the 29th I'm nervous at this point as I haven't touched any MCQ's …. EEEK. Starting the MCQ's tomorrow thoughts?
@JJM excited/nervous for our scores to possibly come out tomorrow?

jjm1181Participant@AshleyCap – Sorry to hear about your cat. I've been through a few pets in my short lifetime and it's incredibly difficult. Seems like you and I are at the same point in our studies. I only have about 100 MCQs to wrap up A2. I've decided that regardless of how well I study, I am going to take the exam. Worst case scenario is that I fail and have to retake. Who knows, maybe my last minute cramming will come together and I'll somehow pass. That's my hope. Work should be pretty slow this week with much of my office taking off so I'm going to sneak in some hours there. I plan to take off Monday and Tuesday before the exam and just do MCQs until I pass out. I think you could easily put in some serious MCQs and make a good run at it. Especially since you've seen the material before in class (granted that was a while ago) and this topic can seems to be more logic based sometimes so it should be easier than FAR…I hope.
I lost my motivation and some of these topics (Audit Reports) are going to give me a rough time, but I'd rather try and fail than put it off and maybe fail later. At least a week and a half of cramming should really help me if I fail and need to retake.
I am SUPER nervous about tomorrow. I spent Saturday night dreaming about it. Ugh. I've been waiting forever to get the score and now I'm nervous to get it. Good luck tomorrow.

jenuno01Member@Ashley & @JJM the only reason why I am ahead of the game is because I stopped taking notes after A1. It was taking me waaay too long and to be honest, I felt like I was re-writing the enire book. So here's my new strategy:
Watch the entire lecture of each section and higlight/make whatever notes Tim tells me to make. Once the lecture for the whole section is done, I skim over the text book, one section at a time, and then I do the corresponding questions. Then skim again for the next topic, do the questions..rinse and repeat until I finish the Ancillary questions… then I do the Simulations of the section.
**Note: As I go through the MC q's , I use Becker's ‘MARK' tool to mark the questions that represent a new idea/topic…I don't know if you guys have noticed, but there are A LOT of questions that ask for the same thing but are reworded differently …so let's say a section has 100 questions, I can usually mark about 60 to 70 of them.
Once I finished A3 lectures and questions (following the above routine), I went back to A1, A2, and A3, ended up printing each one to PDF and printing them to paper (not very eco-friendly of me I know) but I was able to print 4 questions per page front and back. Then I just starting re-doing all the MC q's so they stayed fresh in my head! (As I went through the questions in paper–I was taking notes on the important things–specially nmeonics). FYI I ended up marking about 400 out of 756 MC q's from A1 to A3– that's a saving of over 300 mc Q's! (These 300 mc q's I don't plan to review again, as I considered them either repeticious or very common sense)
Once I finish, A5, I will review A4 and A5 following the above method. Anyway, this is my method, and I feel like I've retained a lot of information!! It was taking about a week per section, and with this method, it takes me 3 days to get through a section–not to mention I am reviewing as I go! I hope I pass LOL

AnonymousInactive@jjm I do agree with just studying as much as you can and just doing it just a little nervous that I basically have 8 days left since my test is the 29th @ 8am…. Yes I had my cat more than half my life (I'm only 27) and it was incredibly hard. How comfortable are you feeling so far with the material?
@jenuno01 I agree that writing the notes takes an ETERNITY! I like having them to skim over in bed or anywhere else. Much easier than having the book. But I think with my next exam I may try something different as well. Perhaps typing up the notes as that will be a lot faster for me. I bet you're going to do great on your exam!! How did you study for FAR?
November 21, 2011 at 5:43 am #310341
AnonymousInactiveI like your marking idea for the MCQ's will have to do that while going through them!
November 21, 2011 at 6:06 pm #310342
jenuno01Member@Ashley, I still think you have a shot at AUD! I would think if you do non-stop MC Q's until the 29th, you could do it!! It won't be fun, but it just might work! =D
For FAR, I would make extenssive notes over the book and over the MC Q's..it would take me forever! The sad part is that I didn't even use my notes to review the material! I just focused on practicing MC Q's, that's why I've decided to stop doing the whole note thing…Good luck to you and I hope you passed FAR! -Maybe finding out that you passed will give you that extra motivation to study for AUD!

jjm1181ParticipantI'm now on A3 MCQs. This is Audit topic isn't as bad as I thought. Still tricky though. AshleyCap, have you decided if you're going to sit for AUD next week?
Did either of you two look at your scores today? If so, how'd it go? I passed. So glad that I don't have to take FAR again.

rubie145Member@jjm1181 I was going to try to find you in a post to see how your studying is coming along….I feel pretty good about it considering I still have a solid week to kill some multiple choice questions!! I took notes by doing the wiley software questions, I rewrote those before busting out more multiple choice and now I am rewriting Ninja notes so I have a more organized structure. Really feel that this helps things stick in my head. How have you been??
REG 10/01/2011- failed retake hopefully May 2012
AUD 11/30/2011- failed retake 1/9/2012
BEC 2/25/2012 -
FAR-TBDNovember 22, 2011 at 9:29 pm #310347
jjm1181Participant@rubie145 – Sounds like you're going to be very prepared for the exam. That's great. Since I am only 7 days away from the AUD exam and I'm just now going through the MCQs for the 1st time, I am way behind. I usually go through the Becker MCQs twice and then nail the Wiley test bank as much as possible before the exam. I also haven't been able to read the NINJA notes which I thought were a great supplement. Considering I just passed FAR and only have AUD and REG left, I will be fine with a failing grade in AUD considering I only had 4 weeks to prepare. I'm still high off the FAR grade so life is good :).
Are you feeling pretty good then about your studies so far?
