Just finished my exam two days ago. Starting to panic about finishing MC so fast, while playing with 2 hours 30 minutes on stimulates which I only used like 1 hour and 10 minutes . Was actually intend to spend more time on MC because I usually do bad on them , but on the exam I just go by so fast on MC, is that consider “normal”? anyone had similar experience?

i finished the first two testlets within one hour. the third testlet was much more difficult, questions out of left field. the sims kicked my ass, even though i had about two hours to do the sims, i took my time and used every minute to try and find the answer. i think i passed but will have to wait and see.

how are the sims graded again? because there was definitely content not included in the AUD study materials. i used the research function but still, i had to make journal entries and identify random independence impairment issues etc….i couldn't find definitive answers for half of my sims.

Its probably a good sign if you feel you knew the material. I had time to spare with most of my exams and passed. However, if I was speeding through an exam that fast I would have reworked every problem a 2nd or 3rd time before advancing to the next testlet. I did this until I had taken up all the time I had allocated for each section beforehand. I know I changed a few answers doing this over the 4 tests.

I finished the MCQs in under an hour. I had said I was going to take a break in between last MCQ testlet and sims, but I was in such a trance, I thought there were four MCQ testlets instead of the three, and ended up not being able to take my break at all.

For me, personally, finishing the MCQs quickly is a good sign, but I also finished the sims quickly as well. And that's a bad sign. I feel good about the MCQs and bad about the sims. I just hope I did well enough on them to put me over the 75 mark. But this is my first simulation test so I have no idea how well I have to do in order to pass. Eeeek.

What I mainly didn't like about chrisbrown's post was when he said, “I think a lot of people take to long and talk themselves out of the right answer.” He's implying that in order to pass, you should finish your exams in 2 hours or else, you probably failed because you spent all that extra time talking yourself out of the right answer. Each person is different. Some people need to spend the whole 3 or 4 hours. I am one of them. Based on how I was doing with practice questions, I tend to get questions wrong if I answer them too fast because the questions can be so darn tricky that I can get easily fooled into picking the wrong answer. It could be something silly like not putting the decimal in the right place when multiplying percentages or not watching the dates in the question. And besides, I choose to take the full 3 or 4 hours because that's what I'm given. I'd rather spend the extra hour or so being careful than rushing through the exam and spending the extra time restudying and taking it again because I completed the exam so fast and was careless. I budget my time to spend exactly the amount of time I'm given.

I took AUD yesterday and I too was through my first three testlets in about 90 minutes. I wouldn't fret over how fast you finished them. Mine went so fast, because I knew the material this time. Simulations….that's another story. They were unbelievable challenging yesterday, so I was relieved to have 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete them.

Whoa whoa CPAMan, that's not what I'm implying at all. And it's not about rushing for the sake of rushing. I think most of the time people's first gut response is correct. Absolutely be careful when doing calculations and things of that sort.

I really do just think that when people go back and re-read the question, they end up changing from the right answer to the wrong answer.

We're all different. Some people can read a question and comprehend exactly what it's asking extremely quickly. Other people have to be more careful and read it more carefully. I'm not saying everyone should finish in an hour and a half, but what I am saying is that the first gut feeling is what you should go with and you shouldn't sit and talk yourself out of it.

To piggy back on the whole “time” thing. I absolutely HATE when people budget time on tests of any type whether it be school, the cpa exam, or whatever else it may be.

You're goal is to finish the test in it's entirety, not to make sure you use every second. If you budget let's say 45 minutes for the first multiple choice testlet and you make it through all the questions in 30 minutes, don't go back and use that 15 minutes to check your answers. You already answered the questions and you picked the answer you did for a reason. It was your first response and your first response is generally the best response IMO. Move on to the next testlet. By going back, I think it's more likely you will talk yourself out of a correct answer than find something you did wrong and fix it.

After reading all the post, I felt much better! I guess it's normal to finish MC fast. I don't worry much about stimulation because I am usually good at it and I did use the research to confirm my answers. 7 more days till we find out! Too bad got to go back to school on Monday to start working on 150 credits and need to find jobs to fill my resumes and the 1 yrs experience rule!!! Guess can't take a break and hope don't need to restudy Audit while going for summer school!!!!Anyway Thanks everyone!
