Is it Enough?

Well, I’m a newbie to the game here. I sit for my very first section this Friday in taking AUD.

I’m using Becker and have studied since receiving the material a month ago. I have done the following:

    1) Watched all lectures (and associated highlighting)

    2) Completed all 1,225 MCQ two times (getting them all correct at least once)

    3) Completed all Simulations once

    4) Took both Practice Exams

I averaged about a 70% on the MCQ the second time through. Seeing as 75% correct does not equal a 75 on the exam, I wanted to try and compare the % MCQ correct using Becker to others who have already taken and passed AUD. Anyone willing to share how well they did on the MCQ using Becker with the outcomes of their AUD Exam? (I’m not concerned about the comparability of 2010 vs. 2011 exams) Basically, is my 70% correct on MCQ going to put me over the 75 mark on Friday?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you taken FAR yet? Hopefully you have the text's for the FAR portion. Definitely look over various journal entries to be prepared! Good Luck. Let us know how it goes!! 🙂

I think you should be fine. I only did one practice final and did about the same as you.

Well, here's the results from Friday's AUD Exam:

1st testlet: I had seen most forms of the questions before – Easy (35 Min.)

2nd testlet: I had seen about no forms of the questions before – Hard (60 Min.)

3rd testlet: About half and half (seen half, not seen half) – Medium-Hard (35 Min.)

    Simulations (1 Hr. 40 Min.):

    1) Concur with others about lag between simulation questions

    2) I sure hope they throw out the one simulation that was about 4x harder than the others

    3) Nailed the first two, and don't imagine those being thrown out, so that was encouraging

All in all, I feel my study with Becker had me well prepared based on my routine listed above (first post of page). I can't imagine them scoring any IFRS questions asked, but even so, I would not be concerned about taking the AUD Exam if I had studied with the 2010 Becker materials (seems to be a common question amongst future examinees).

how would you say beckers sims prepared you for the actual sims on the exam?

Minus the one simulation that I can't imagine any course having your prepared for, I felt that Becker had me prepared. Similar to what I saw going through practice exams and simulations.

How long did you spend studying for AUD? I have about 6 weeks and a full time job and wonder if it'll be enough time to prep…

Started the CPA in 2009. Passed BEC and AUD. Got lazy and they expired so I'm back on the ball in 2013.

    B - April 2013 - Passed
    A - May 2013 - 74. ARGH. Dec 6th reschedule.
    R - TBD
    F - TBD

    So help me God!

I too have a full-time job. My study consisted of the following (in 6 full weeks):

    1) Watched all lectures (and completed associated highlighting)

    2) Completed all 1,225 MCQ two times (getting them all correct at least once)

    3) Completed all Simulations once

    4) Took both Practice Exams

    5) Re-read just the highlighted material in the book twice

Obviously, I don't have results back yet. But I felt prepared and left feeling good.

I took Auditing in November and did not pass. I scored very low in the communication areas. So should i focus on understanding what is in each of the reports more? Also, many people say to review FAR for Auditing and I can honestly say my sims were more like FAR than Auditing problems. What techniques or information are you focusing on for this area?

    Study, Pray, Pray, Study,

No honestly I guess the best advice is to take FAR before AUD…. if you cant do that, then I really am not sure myself but I can def confirm that there are FAR type questions, as I just took the exam not too long ago
