My plan is to study for AUD and BEC from mid-June to mid-Aug then take one section 8/20 and the other 8/27. Is this a ridiculous thing to try? Any other suggestions to knock out these two parts within the testing window?

    Thanks,

    AUD: 07/11/11 - Passed
    BEC: 08/27/11 - Passed
    FAR: 01/17/12 - Passed
    REG: 04/30/12; Re-take 7/16/12 - Passed

    FINISHED!!!!!!!!

depends on if you work, have a family or not. I work full time and have two young kids. So I only take one per window.

    AUD (11) & FAR (10) = 89
    BEC (10) & REG (11) = 78
    Ethics here I come!

Why are you studying for both sections at the same time, then taking both in the same month? Why not study for AUD from now until the first week in July, then sit for AUD the first week in the testing window. Then study for BEC July-Aug, and sit for BEC the last week in Aug.

I would not try studying for 2 at once, its hard enought to memorize all of the information for one exam and understand how it all works together. Imagine having twice as much information and memorizing how it relates to everything else. I would not want to cloud my mind with 2 exams at once! But I think you have plenty of time to take both exams in that time frame. Start studying middle of june, take an exam middle of July (Id say BEC its easier) than start studying 2 days later for AUD and take that one at the very end of the testing window late august. You should be good with that study plan.

    Audit - 11/23/10 - 90
    Financial - 1/4/11 - 88
    Business - 2/28/11 - 86
    Regulation - 4/1/11 - Last one!

I do work full time but don't have children so I will be able to commit the time needed each evening & weekend.

I was originally thinking of the schedule as I mentioned because I was looking at taking the Becker review and did not want to take the AUD exam in the middle of the reveiw for BEC. However, I'm now looking more towards Yaeger HS and I think I will be able to schedule the two exam as you all suggested…study for one then take one.

    Thanks!

It is possible to do two test and pass both in the same window. I did it in the same month. I took BEC and FAR in November last year and passed both. I took REG and AUD in January this year and only passed AUD. I think your success in doing this depends on how comfortable you are with the material. FAR and BEC are the easiest topics for me, so taking both of them simultaneously was feasible. I am only average with AUD and terrible with REG, so taking those two at the same time did not work.

When I studied for BEC and FAR, I read up on both topics for the first few weeks, keeping my level of studying to more general concepts. When I was within the last 1-2 weeks before each test, I would study heavily for that test only.

    BEC - 82 AUD - 85
    FAR - 83 REG - 71, 86

When I graduated college, my Accounting professor told me personally that he strongly recommends that I study for two parts at the same time and take the two parts in the same testing window. But I didn't listen to him. That's way too much for me to handle. I guess if I didn't find a job and wasn't working, then yeah, I'd probably do it. But there's no way I can study for two parts while working 40 hours a week. Ain't gonna happen.

CalCPASoon is right on with the answer! You're better off studying each one separately in a shorter timeframe.

    Remember…this is a SPRINT…..not a MARATHON!

Would you rather do two things at 60-70% or one thing at 100%. Which one has the better potential of passing?

I am also studying for AUD for July 25th. I was planning on studying for BEC to sit for August 31st but I realized that I am pushing it. I work full time and I am a single parent. However what I did decide was to sit for the BEC first week of October. I rather study and practice then feel rushed. I am worried if I rush then I will extend the life of this exam in my own life.LOL.

I cant wait for this to be over.

I do not think that your previous employer can decline signing your experience form. You may want to check with the AICPA. Its not “ethical”.

Everyone studies differently but I suggest have a shorter study window. I did my best when I had 3 weeks to study and a 20 chapter gliem book to read. When I gave myself a longer window I wouldnt be as focused. Plus stuff stays fresher in your mind after 3 weeks than 6 weeks.

As others have repeated here – I suggest studying one at a time and scheduling early so that there is an imposed deadline.

To me, preparing for one of these exams is like planning a wedding. The same amount of work needs to be done – why drag out the stress of it over a longer period of time?

    BEC - 10/18/2010 - 79
    FAR - 10/28/2010 - 82
    AUD - 11/04/2010 - 73; 02/18/2011 - 86 - IT'S OVER!!!!!!
    REG - 11/21/2010 - 83

Tulip….that “planning a wedding” analogy is VERY appropriate for CPA Exam studying. It's the EXACT same amount of work no matter WHAT the time frame.

Use it more often on this blog!

I don't think you need to do two in one window until you have passed one part and the clock starts ticking, or its already ticking down and you got no choice

After more thought, I've decided to do AUD on July 16 and BEC on Aug 27. That gives me about 6 weeks for each section. I just received my review material but have not started yet because I'm also taking my last 2 masters courses.

I realize some may not recommend taking two tests per window but I am really anxious to get this done. I want to keep the momentum going after I finish grad school. I feel if I don't keep up the study pace I'm currently on, I will slack off and my study habits for the CPA will become less effective.

Each of us are different and maybe I'm a bit overly optimistic, but I think I can do two in a window. Time will tell…

I really appreciate all the insight from those of you who are going/been through this.

I'm doing all 4 tests this window. However, I'm not a typical candidate. I'm not working right now so all I do all day every day is study. I did FAR first because it had the most material and I had the most time to prepare for it. I'm doing the other tests every two weeks. Originally I'd thought that I could begin studying for the next test before taking the prior one, but I realized that distracts me from the current test and doesn't help me that much for the next one. I intensely cover the material for one test, take it, and begin studying for the next one that night. Only 7 more days and I'm done–at least for this window. You're much better off with your current plan. It might take a little longer, but you probably have a greater chance of success.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85
