I used Becker for AUD and just took a progress test. I answered the mcqs very quickly and got most correct, it looks like i memorized most of the answers.

What’s should I do to make myself truly understand the concept rather than memorizing the answers..?

    Do it backwards, jeopardy style?

Or answer why all the other answers are wrong

Understanding why other answers are wrong is the best way I've found.

If you memorized the answers then you are going to bomb the CPA exam because those questions will not be exactly the same as what you've studied. THAT is the danger of memorizing the answers: You think you're ready when in reality you're miles away from the finish line of being ready.

That's why you need to learn WHY the other answers were wrong. This is part of the studying.

If you're taking MCQ's on Wiley Test Bank and CPAReviewforfree, both will tell you this crucial information. I highly recommend Wiley Test Bank but recommend CPAReviewforfree as a secondary. The latter doesn't have the HUGE NUMBER of questions that the former has (and that will help you since you won't be memorizing answers) but tends to have questions harder than Wiley.

What I have been doing is studying the becker questions, finish a topic in a chapter, then do the cpareviewforfree questions and then do a simulation. Just try to jog your memory from different areas. If you keep looking at the same thing and doing it over and over again, your mind will just retain the presentation of the question and just automatically click on b or c. Any questions that I would get wrong in any of the areas I would just print it out and move on to the next and first thing in the morning just re do those questions.

It all depends on what helps you learn best, but for a lot of people taking your own notes is a great tool. Also, when you're going through the MC questions make sure you read the description for the right answer, and most importantly the wrong answers. This way you can understand why the answer is either wrong or right. Good luck!

I failed AUD once because I did exactly what you did. Audit only seems easy.

As NYCPA34 suggests, taking notes is probably the best approach.
