Is it a deal breaker if you don’t master the financial ratios to pass Audit? All comments are appreciated. Thanks!

    AUD: 94 (Nov. 2013)
    FAR: 76 (Oct. 2013)
    BEC: 79 (Nov. 2012)
REG: 84 (Dec. 2013) It's Mile 26.2, and we finished. Blood, sweat and tears, passion, perseverance, and never giving up, we did it!

I'm not sure but if you passed BEC you should remember some of them šŸ™‚ Based on MCQ in Wiley TB, you need to understand what they mean.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

I stuck to learning the basics and didn't use any of them on my exam. I'd aim for your basic ones but not worry too much about it.

Since my study material (CPA Excel) referenced them in my Audit SIMS I made sure to know the basic ones. I would hate for a simple ratio or two to cost me points.

    FAR- 85 I'm DONE!
    BEC- 75
    REG- 60,60,75
    AUD- 74,74,83

CPAExcel used for BEC, AUD, REG
Exam Matrix used for FAR plus NINJA Blitz, cpareviewforfree and a little CPAExcel

I wouldn't stress, but I would defiinitely consider what is i the Ninja Notes. AUD is much more conceptual with memorization overall.

B - 59;66;75 PASS 11/2013(Becker Videos; WTB-75%; Ninja Notes; Ninja Flashcards; Becker Live Final Review)
    A - 54;63;93 PASS 5/2013(Becker Videos; WTB-75%; Ninja Notes; Ninja Flashcards)
R - 62; RESCHEDULE(Becker Videos; WTB-75%; Ninja Notes; Ninja Flashcards; Becker Live Final Review)
    F - 53; WAITING - 5/16/2014

If you know one of the turnover ratios then you know them all. Understand what they mean, but don't put too much time into them.

    - passed all 4 exams on my first try using Becker!

    Ethics: TBD

In my practice sims throughout both CPAexcel & Wiley, there were questions regarding effects on equity, gross profit ratios, days sales in receivables, etc.

I think it is important to know all of the ratios. It's pretty easy once you start seeing similarities in all of them. You can remember ratios, using simple tricks, such as with turnovers knowing the ‘type' of ratio it is, will determine the denominator. For example with “A/R” Turnover, A/R is the denominator and the item that cooresponds with A/R is Sales, so sales is the numerator. Inventory Turnover is similar, but the corresponding item is COGS. Inventory is the denominator and COGS is the numerator.

A few other things to remember: whenever a ratio mentions “debt” it is usually referring to liabilities. If the ratio is ‘something “to” something', remember that whatever is mentioned prior to the word “to” goes in the numerator and what comes after “to” goes in the denominator.

    B:76
    A:64, 73, 91!
    R:77
    F:76
