I just passed REG and am reading AUD now. I only finished reading 6 chapters of REG and might only get to 5 before my AUD exam (very behind on hw though).

I usually read about 5-10 pages a day, usually read half a page and get distracted. How long does it take you guys on average to read a chapter, and are there any tips you can share for someone like me?

    Hey

I gave myself a week to cover 1 chapter. In Becker there are about 70 pages in a chapter give or take 10 so doing around 15 pages in 5/5 days and then 2 days to do homework. I would work on the lecture videos first before even reading to give me a understanding and refer to notes.

Day 1: Complete half if not all lecture videos (total 4 hours)

Day 2: Read 1 or 2 sections and work on few homework questions (I personally never really finished all the MCQs)

    Day 3: repeat

    Day 4: repeat

    Day 5: repeat

Day 6: Do some more questions and review

Day 7: flash cards + rest and do some more questions or jump over to next chapter if I feel good.

In my opinion, the lectures and reading the text (at least in Becker) are a complete waste of time. My strategy is to watch the lectures once, then do the MCQ after watching each chapter. While doing the multiple choice I write down notes from the bottom where the answers of right and wrong are listed noting anything I think to be relevant in my notes. I also track each question and whether I got it right or wrong. I do this for all chapters and then go through the MCQ's at least one more time (skipping any reading or re-watching of lectures). Using this method I have gone 2/2 in my last two exams, but of course this is a strategy that works for me. Everyone is different so you just have to find the strategy that fits yourself.

Reading through the lectures and taking detailed notes are what makes all the difference for me. I listen to the lecture then I spend probably 5-6 hours really thoroughly reading each section and outlining it and then do the MCQs. I hardly ever have to use my book for MCQs and I normally get between a 70%-90% on the first try. For me, it's a lot more beneficial reading the text well and understanding it, rather than wasting time trying to figure out what they're asking me on the MCQ.
