1.Sales Clerk – initiates posting to inventory records by reparation of shipping advice – DEFICIENCY
—is this because the item has not been shipped, just prepared to be shipped?
2. Book Keeper – Authorizes write-offs of customer accounts but does not post to sales journal -NO DEFICIENCY
—-i thought this would have been a deficiency because it was a book keeping stating the account could be written off, but is this not a deficiency because they are approving the write off, but not posting it? So, there is a segregation between authorization and reporting?
3. Book Keeper – receives customer checks and posts to cash receipts – DEFICIENCY
— is this because there is not a separation between custody and record keeping??

Any help would be appreciated..

1. Violates the segregation of duties of existing control activites (PAIDTIPS)

2. Not sure. Thought write offs hit the ADA account and not the sales account. Hmmm.
