I have passed all sections of the exam except auditing. I have been struggling to even get over 70. I failed with a 62, 69 and just found out I got a 67. I don’t know what to do and I’m so demotivated now. Anyone have any advice on what to do or use or take to get through this exam? Any and all advice would be very appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

I am in the same boat as you! I have taken AUD three times already, and have gotten a 64, 69, & 68. My next scheduled AUD exam is this Wednesday (Aug. 25th), and I am not confident at all (given my recent scores in the past). I have exercised every resource known to man! I currently use Becker, and recently purchased the final review material and it has been great! It takes you through several simulations and topics that are more “highlighted” on the exam. I also checked out a Wiley Auditing book from the library, to utilize more multiple choice questions. I have found out that I think I may know the material, but doing as many/different questions and simulations has improved my confidence to master anything thing the CPA exam throws my way! BRING IT ON! Hope this helps!!! (Hope it has for me this Wednesday).

August 23, 2010 at 12:09 pm #23729275 CPAParticipantAUD kicked me in the butt too. AUD is so easy to study and so difficult to spass. However, I feel like I passed the last exam. I just reached the point where I am answering most of questions correctly.
Jump back on the AUD horse. I called Dr. Phil Yaeger and I ordered AUD Cram. Listen to Gary's explanations of the multiple choice questions and work ALL of the multiple choice in the Wiley book that Yaeger provides. I made a 74 on my second exam. I used AUD Cram for my third AUD exam. I only studied for 8 days, but I think that Yaeger Cram gave me a passing grade.
Your scores indicate that you are not understanding AUD. I too was in that position too with a grade of 64 on my first exam. I raised my grade by 10 points to a 74 by using Lambers for AUD. Garland is a great teacher, better than Becker, which I used to get that 64. Lambers only cost me $300. (http://www.Lambers.com)
You may also want to get Gleim Test Prep for AUD (less than $100) if you still need more multiple choice questions. Under the “Customized exam options” in Gleim you can select:
• Questions I’ve never seen
• Questions I’ve never answered
• Questions I’ve never answered correctly
• All available questions
Additionally, you can pinpoint the questions that you want to answer. There are 20 units and then there are subunits under each unit.
Before I started with Garland (Lambers), I made a 65 on my Gleim Online diagnostic exam and a 64 on my AUD exam. My numbers with Gleim were very consistent with the real AUD exam. (I used Gleim Online, which includes Gleim Test Prep.)
You can pass AUD! Take a sheet of paper and write down the five sections of the AUD exam. Next to each section write down your three scores from your AUD exam. Gleim, unlike Becker, will allow you to replicate the AUD exam, section by section! Write down your Gleim scores in another column, section by section.
I hope that this is some help to you. AUD is just a tricky word test. I do better on more difficult exams like REG.

I used wiley for the last 3 attempts and watched the becker dvd's which I got from a friend. So should I get garland or gleim? Do you know if there are private CPA classes for auditing that I can actually attend live?
August 23, 2010 at 2:53 pm #237294Florida_CandidateParticipantI haven't gotten my score yet so take this with a grain of salt, but becker's flashcards really helped me. You can't “guess” the answer so it realllly points out what you don't know 🙂 But they are really really hard!
FAR-91 (7/29)
AUD-99 (8/23)
BEC-90 (10/1)
REG-99 (11/3)August 23, 2010 at 4:20 pm #237295suzzette1ParticipantCPA4lifeyj I just got my score form Auditng and I know how hard and tricky the exam is. But I think you have to do tons of MCQ's( at least I did almost 3,000 plus.) I bombed the simulations but I got a very high score in my MCQ's which made me pass. Do not memorize the answer just understand the concept. I also would recommend CPAreviewforfree. Joe Hoyle is good in explaining the concept. Hang on there and you will pass sooner than you think!
BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONEAugust 23, 2010 at 4:33 pm #237296gabe1475ParticipantI agree with suzzette, working the MC is key. How were your scores on practice tests/cpareviewforfree.com? You should be in the mid to high 80's at least and make sure that it is not just due to haveing answers memorized.
FAR - 95
AUD - 82
REG - 94
BEC - 84August 24, 2010 at 5:14 pm #237297AnonymousInactiveSuzette and Gabe, I hear that from a lot of people. Everyone said to do 3000 plus mcq's. What have you guys been using as study material? I've used wiley 3 times now and i think a major reason why I failed was because i know every question by heart. Where are you guys getting your 3000 mcq's from?
August 24, 2010 at 10:21 pm #237298suzzette1ParticipantCPA4lifeyj I used Wiley book (700 + MCQ's), Becker Passmaster (1,070 MCQ's), Wiley Software (800 MCQ's) and CPA reviewforfree (539 MCQ's). I reviewed the Becker passmaster twice and Wiley book and software 3 times. I was scoring 95% in CPAreviewfor free doing random questions. You will pass Auditing as long as you made good in MCQ's.
BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONEAugust 24, 2010 at 10:29 pm #237299whitesoxfancpaParticipantCPA4lifejy,
I used Becker and only Becker. The key is repetition. Who cares if you memorize the answers? The key is KNOWING why that answer is right. So even if you're going through the questions you've done a million times already and you memorized the answer, read the explanation. Do you understand it? Does it make sense? If so, you probably understand the material. If not, go back, read the book, and see if you could make it make sense. See if you could understand it.
Memorizing answers after a while stinks, but it's still an awesome review to go and redo questions you've done already and make sure you know the REASON for the answer.

Get both Lambers (Garland) for $300 AND Gleim Online for AUD! Garland taught me AUD better than Becker. Additionally, Garland goes over many multiple choice questions in detail, just like Yaeger. Garland raised my score by 10 points. Garland has 27 hours of lecture.
I would advise you to get Gleim Online which also includes Gleim Test Prep and simulations. Gleim is very organized so that you will be able to hit all of your weak areas on your exam. Gleim Online also has a test before you start using their material and a test after you finish their material. If you pass Gleim's final exam, you will pass the AUD exam!

Lambers with Garland for AUD is the teaching course that you need and Gleim will give those 3,000 questions that you need to pass AUD. Wiley has a lot of good multiple choice questions, but the questions are not organized like Gleim
August 25, 2010 at 7:20 pm #237301SFCPA13ParticipantPurchase Gleim test-prep software and do as many problems as you can. I did about 1,200 AUD problems and was scoring roughly 70-80% before the exam, which I passed with an 85. I had very, very little knowledge of AUD before using Gleim study materials as well.
I think the key to passing any part of these exams is practice, practice, practice……..doesn't matter if we're talking, AUD, BEC, etc. Every time you screw up while practicing is 1 less time you'll screw up on the exam.
Good luck.
FAR-75, BEC-80, AUD-85, REG-79
Gleim ReviewAugust 25, 2010 at 8:23 pm #237302rashParticipantI second SFCPA13, get Gleim's test prep software. Every review course has it's strength and while I think Gleim's lack of a decent lecture and in some cases explanation of the material is one of it's downfalls… I think their test prep software is exceptional! I say use whatever review course you feel comfortable with in terms of teaching style and practice as many multiple choice questions as you possibly can; and for this I recommend Gleim.
Aud- Pass, BEC- Pass, FAR- Pass, REG- Pass.... Done!
