Does anyone have any advice to try and learn AUD quickly? I went through the lectures and now I’m taking my own notes and doing flashcards before I start doing the MCQs. I’ve been studying for a week and barely anything is sticking. I can do FC over and over and it never sticks. I want to have some grasp on the material, so I’m not just memorizing the MCQs. I just failed FAR (70), so I’m feeling defeated and unmotivated about how slow I’m learning this material. Does anyone have any advice?

Quickly? Depends on what you mean by quickly. It took me 7 weeks. The last 3 weeks is concentrated on re-working homework, progress tests and the practice exams. I take the results of the practice exams and focus on the weak areas.

I think I'm kinda repeating what others have said…but if it makes you feel better…things never “stick” or “click” with me until near the end of my studying. My study-method is to read through the entire book (I use Wiley, so no lectures), and then to drill in Wiley test bank till I have seen all the questions. It's usually not till I'm at least a couple hundred MCQs into the test bank before things start to click and make sense. So, first chapter, I don't stand a chance of having anything make sense!

My next test is REG and I unexpectedly have extra study time (switching jobs and ended up with a week off in between). So, I think I'll actually have time to read the book twice this time. I'm curious to see if on my second read-through, things make sense or not…but I know that for the first read through, it's all still a mess. So, don't stress about it yet. You'll get it. 🙂

Thank you everyone for the advice. I think repetition will be the key. I'm definitely going to try and rewrite my notes this time, which is something I didn't do with FAR (which I failed).

@jgh1204 I guess my definition of quickly was learning in fewer than 7-8 weeks. I wanted to be finished with my exams by April, but it might be looking like that won't be the case.

@taxgeek83 I'm using Becker, but I did get the 10 point combo.

@samdiegoCPA Haha, yea, I think I am like you.
